Thats the whole point. People are suggesting we accept a can of baked beans and a piece of toast for Tippett for whatever reason but would not accept it themselves for one of their 'potential stars'
Just think what you would want for Reid. A player who at this point only has potential, no real proven track record. Now think long and hard about this next bit. Tippett is a Proven 50 goal forward who can ruck and takes the second best contested mark in the game. He is also a proven big game player and only at the age of 25???
You can now see where we are coming from.

There's always that new thing the AFL introduced where we can go to mediation if we dont feel like we're getting a reasonable deal.

I don't really know a whole lot about that process, but surely the AFL can't force Tippett to go somewhere he doesn't want to.
 
What would Adelaide supporters want as compo. Considering where the club is at, would you prefer players over picks? and if so what type of player/s?

25 is not young for a football player. Unless he's going to play past the age of 32, he's already into the second half of his career. Tippett has about as much potential to improve as Jesse White. It could happen, but it's unlikely.

Reid is 20, and already spearheading the attack of a Premiership team. The comparison is ridiculous.

This arouses suspicion that GWS manufactured the situation and makes Yippett look like a bigger prick than he already does - not ideal for club or player.

Yup. Hence why I would think his pick would be about pick 10. I seriously (and hope) the swans are a smoke screen as it will be difficult to get a trade done. Time will tell but have a hunch it is to push his price up

I don't know if that's a genuine typo or if it's deliberate. But that's possibly the best nickname for Tippett I've ever seen. :D

Tippett was 21 or 22 when he started dominatingthe comp. At that stage he was certainly a similar if not better prospect than Reid is now.

But I think the comparison was more just saying, would you like to lose your future KPF for SFA?

In my opinion, of where we are at now, if we're getting picks for the likes of Tippett, they have to be high. Tippetts value time is now, and the odds of high draft picks (I'm referring to top tier mid prospects) maturing into the system as quickly as possible to become first 22 material is crucial.

If that isn't possible, it would have to be first team players imo.

Good luck guys I sense you guys getting shafted here, if its any constellation I still believe long term you are better off without him regardless of compo.

Better hope a bidding war starts as I can't see GC offering anything.

According to FAITH, GWS are also very keen for more compensation picks. Taking Tippett as a second uncontracted player means that there would likely be two more first-round compensation picks on the market that we may be willing to trade back to them for another mini-draft pick. In this scenario, at best, they end up with Tippett and more compensation picks without losing anything. At worst, they end up gaining Tippett without losing anything, except for being pushed back in the draft in the second round and beyond by a spot or two (which I don't think would overly concern them). I think it'll be quite a few years before we see GWS finishing above us on the ladder.

They had two years to sign uncontracted players, so I can't see why they couldn't take Tippett as a second uncontracted player with our permission.

If GWS take Tippett, it will be via the PSD and we will not be compensated by them or the AFL. He is now fair game as are apparently all our uncontracted players if they decide to walk to GWS in the PSD. If Tippett was to nominate GWS we would be up in arms in protest against the AFL decision on this – the only reason Adelaide supporters are nonplussed is because it provides us with protection against GCS.

Petrenko is a hack = still 50/50 but leaning towards hack
Tex is a gun = Tick for me
Smack is a gun = Looking shakey but i expect a big 2013 given bigger responsibility
Rutten is finished = was looking spot on. 1 game against Pavlich doesnt count for a full year of spuddines

I think the likely scenario is this plays out to the last minute and you guys take a pick around 15-20, to save some face.

Not ideal but the bargaining power isn't looking good when Kurt can't make up his damn mind which by all reports is a trait of him.

Maybe so, but he's clearly stagnated. You can't expect to get trade based on Tippett's potential of 3 years ago, when that potential simply hasn't been realised. We might as well expect a first rounder for Jesse White, based on that logic. Would have been a fair trade 3 years ago, not so much now.

Firstly, Reid's potential >> Tippett's reality.

Secondly, Grundy is not SFA. He's the second best key defender in the best defence in the competition. He's prone to making the occasional error by foot, which has drawn the irrational ire of some Swans fans, but he's a gun, and extremely highly rated amongst the coaches.
