I am sincere that I am really happy he isn't going to stuff up your club... You Gold Coast and Brisbane supporters have been bloody good blokes:thumbsu:
It certainly does have the feel of a bullet dodged.

I can say with some experience from the Mitch Clark saga that even watching him play good footy at Melbourne I had no regrets. The guy didn't want to play at our club. It was that simple, so it was remarkably easy to move on (although I must admit watching Goose Maguire pants him in our first encounter made closure even easier). With the quality and youth of the Crows I'd be surprised if most of you won't be in a similar frame of mind next year.

As pissed as plenty of you rightly are, I hope we can all sit back for a moment of mirth soon and have a bit of a giggle at the further mythology that AFGM will weave to explain away his BS.

I can understand the money side of it, hey, even Ablett was tempted to leave a premiership team for $$.

Can't even compare Ablett to Tippett IMO. While I would guess the money had a lot to do with his move to GC, he had also done absolutely everything he possibly could as a footballer at Geelong (Premierships, Brownlow, Club Champion, Coaches Medals, Players Medal etc... etc...) and probably wanted a new challenge.

After Kurt hinting that he's been homsick and wants to go home for ages, he's just stamped himself as an absolute mercenary with his decision to go to the Swans. I have huge respect for them as a team, but really, really hope they don't win another flag while this flog is playing for them.

Think we might be in the ear of Brisbane and just say keep some room spare for Kurt as we might have trouble coming to terms with Sydney. There might be more to the saga yet. Kurt may accept a trade to Brisbane rather than the unknown of the PSD if Sydney don't play ball.

I was just struck in the head by a cloud of optimism.... no matter what (if anything) we get for Tippett, we unquestionably have a VERY youthful, talented list of footballers that will ensure we play plenty of finals footy over the next few years. Lots to look forward to. Get some sunshine into your life folks!

Do we need another clearance winning player though? I would have thought a running Mid or KPD would be more in our sights. I don't think we'll get Jetta, but he's definitely worth a shot.

Someone else proposed the below trade:
Tippet > Sydney
Hannebury > Melbourne
Pick 4 > Adelaide

Seems alright to me, if Hannebury agrees to it. GC look unlikely to give up pick 2, and pick 4 will be useful in a strong draft.

Melbourne would be stupid to do that, Sydney would also be stupid to pass it on. You guys would be laughing.

Not sure there's a way to make you guys happy without giving up a premiership player, doing that a month after it happened is a shocking decision, and one that goes against the image we've built the club upon.

The prospect of a Tippett/Reid combination will obviously have Sydney wanting the deal done quickly, but I think it will definitely need to involve a 3 way trade.

That might be what we get WW, but no way is that appropriate recompense.

Rohan had a very bad break in his ankle - Nathan Brown style - and there is no guarantee that he will ever be at his best again. Nathan Brown definitely wasn't, and went from a rooster to a feather duster.

As for the other part, pick 22, it may be called a first rounder, but in any sensible world that is a an early 2nd rounder. In the days of 16 teams that would be pick 6 in the 2nd round and even if you accept that there are now 18 teams, it still technically is 4 in the 2nd round.

We are going to be shafted big time thanks to the traiterous Kurt and his smart-arsed manager.

What goes around comes around. His smart arse manager will need to be mindful of this

AFGM last post was 1 minute before the official decision was made. Hmmmmmm.

He also has gotten rid of his avatar.

In fairness to AFGM, he never said that he would quit BigFooty.

All he said was that he would surrender his avatar which apparently he has. Change the avatar and he has kept his word.

I hope he stays as a poster - he adds value, even if some of it is bullshit as his whole Gold Coast agreement story has proven to be.

that's what happens when you try and act like you know better than anyone else when really you're just sitting in your room on your computer trying to guess what's really going on like everyone else....secret source my a**

The issue is Brisbane will now move to plan B and spend their money.

this is very true. Rob Kerr who looks after the list management was pretty keen to move things along as it appeared he had a few deals on the pipeline (Moloney/Young trade talks for example. We were also exploring options to see if any GC zone players are suitable).

If this whole saga falls apart and goes back to square 1, you'll definitely have one less player in Brisbane. I don't think we'll have the pick/$$$ by that time.

So he is that bad you wont want much in a trade?

He has been a bit of a tool about it all though in in all honesty, he will strengthen the club, i anticpate the crows will eventually take something insted of losing him for free and be the losers in the deal, but if i were in a crows fans position i would be annoyed at tippett.

Hope not. I'd rather him in psd and have to turn up to metricon, hat in hand, telling his new team mates how it was all ruse to get to gc without them having to give anything up. I know this could come back to bite, but he shouldnt be the difference between winning and losing against the suns in the next couple of years. Vastly different with swans though.

We need to get over this idea that Sydney has nothing to offer. They just won the flag FFS, and suggesting that they have no good players is just as disrespectful as the Sydney posters on here have been. I'm sure that we will work something out, especially as Sydney aren't stupid, they surely have thought about how to get a deal done before offering him $900,000 a year. Also I know our club thought 6 weeks ago that Sydney or Collingwood were very likely going to be his preferd choice so I'm sure we have being doing our homework as well. I also think we have to get over this Tippett hating thing, looking back I don't remember him ever saying that he wanted to go home, that was just the media saying it and surely it is alright for a player to chase the money if other clubs are offering more. We somehow seem to expect loyalty from a player but are quite happy when a club delists a player or sacks a coach who has signed a contract in good faith and don't talk about the lack of loyalty, in fact we all say "footy is a business now". Well guess what, it is a business now and the average lifespan of a player on a list is only about 4 years so if they can make $500,000 more in their career by moving then invested well over a life time that can make the difference in how your retirement goes. Personally I think the Roughhead idea is a good one and might well be the type of thing that happens.

Rumor Ralph says Tippett has already purchased a house in Sydney.

So, I'd hope Dangerfield, Walker and Sloane have done the same thing. It's good financial management to invest in property is thriving environment that will allow for a good return of investment.

I'm glad we have a good poster from sydney here...their board is pretty funny...one douche is saying that sydney can get Tippett for free via the PSD...um not even close...another is saying they shouldn't pay him more than 600k a year...um no you'll be paying 900k to 1 million a year like it or not....another was saying they might be willing to give up rohan for danger + tex + tippett....oh dear talk about overrating your players...gary rohan gary rohan...hmmm who is that again?

They have plenty to offer.

Question is, to what extent do they want to break up a Premiership winning side to accommodate Tips desire to ride their coat tails.

Roughhead could be a good get, but I can't see why Hawthorn would let him go.
