Firstly let me qualify what I'm about to say.. I like the swans, my favourite AFL team besides the crows, the bloods hype doesnt phase me or anything like that, I like the way their players go about it.

Get on Sydney for bottom 4 next year.

Serious.

With the combination of old players, some of which need PCL, ACL, hamstring transplants and wont be back for half a season and now possibly (its not over til the fat lady sings on this one) with the divisory element that is Tippett amongst the ranks, can see bad things happening for them.

I make big calls......but I'll back myself in..........I do well with them........

Spare a thought for the Sydney players in all this.

They bust their asses all year, win a flag and then find out that the club is going to bring someone else in on greater money than them and possibly at the expense of one or more of them.

They must also be feeling like they are grossly underpaid if the club has that much money left in the cap.

I agree. This could have much adverse affect on Sydney that crazy Voss had on Brisbane when he tried to trade Bradshaw.

Got it in one. My 74 year old mother worked this out some hours ago - and shes rarely wrong!!!

You know I think there is a high possibility of this deal falling over/never happening. I'm sure sydney want to trade fairly - thats their way and track record - its simply breaking up their premiership group to get the deal done is too high a price to pay for the precious princess. And I wouldn't blame them one iota. In fact the more I think about it, the more I wonder why on earth they would risk such a successful formula and culture? Hmn... is there another play going on here??? Dunno. But somethings really fishy here...

He doesn't care as long as Kurt and him with his % get the best deal possible. From some of the stuff quoting what he has said a tool of the century contender. The gagging sound is him shoving his foot further down his throat.
Not sure it's a foot......

Skirt has already destabilized two clubs, more to follow stay tuned.

This time next week we could be on a 400page thread lol.

I would rather lose Skirt to GWS then to get unders from one of our contenders for the flag next year!

I'm not sure this is right either. Not every player that won a premiership is a premiership player (if that makes sense - think Shane Ellen). Just because they played and won the flag, does not automatically make them superstars. So there is definitely room to move. We also have to assume that they have the room in their salary cap given they've made this offer. With Kennedy and pyke yet to re-sign, perhaps they've taken that into account? I can't see them trading Kennedy (who just won their b&f), certainly not back to hawthorn where he was given away in the first place.

Yes I know that, but that's not what blucher is now saying.

But he can make any statement he likes, and he will to put any pressure on Adelaide he can to get what he's client wants. I can bet you that Tippett doesn't want to go into the PSD.
Maybe that is why Tippet put the "Was born in Sydney and has lots of family there" ?

Unless he has already told them he wants to move back to Melbourne? Purely speculation

If he goes into the PSD then GC will grab him - which is probably still his 2nd preference anyway. The likes of Freo & Carlton are completely irrelevant at this stage, unless you're talking about 3-way trade options.
At this stage ....but if a deal can't be done with Sydney, forget GC there's still GWS, Carlton, Melbourne & Freo

What everyone forgets is the $1M pricetag over 4 years ........if GC could afford, don't you think they would have upped their offer .....wrong to assume all of a sudden they can match the deal in PSD

I know, you have to laugh at the stupidity of that. Even drew Morphett on abc radio today almost choked with laughter when he read that belcher had said that. And added, yes, if the cheque book is big enough!

Did GC finish above Carlton Melbourne and freo? o_O

Transplants?

Only one player on our list requires end of season surgery and that's Tommy Walsh.

This actually looks like a fair trade for all 3 clubs. The only real catch would be convincing Roughead that he wants to move to Adelaide.
Doubt Roughead would be ameniable to that .......but he is a country lad and would depend on the contract Adelaide put to him .....increase his current contract an as we know $$$$talks

No but wrong to assume GC can match contract .....Port are next , Melb, Carlton & Freo

Would suggest Carlton & Freo who both put in Cloke offers have the salary cap room .......not sure GC does or more importantly wants to given their need to satisfy their wealth of talent on the list

They might have just wanted to not overpay him given they have heaps of kids coming out of contract soon. Though if they didn't have to trade for him, it might change their mind.

Tippett nominates Swans

Kurt Tippett has this morning advised the Adelaide Football Club that he wishes to be traded to the Sydney Swans.

Tippett has accepted a conditional four-year contract with the Swans, which is subject to Sydney being able to satisfy Adelaide's trade demands for the key foward.

Adelaide list manager David Noble said the Crows would now focus on securing the best-possible outcome for the Club in the trade period, which starts on Monday and runs through until October 26.

"Now that we know Kurt's preferred club we can start considering the trade options available to us and start formal negotiations when the trade period opens on Monday," he said.

Tippett said his decision to join Sydney was based on football and lifestyle.

"It would have been easy to accept a generous five-year offer to stay in Adelaide, or something similar from the Gold Coast or Brisbane," Tippett said in a statement.

"But this was a combined football/lifestyle decision and the balance between the two. I was born in Sydney, I have a lot of friends and family there, and this offers me a chance to play football in a lifestyle which I really enjoy.

“I want to thank the Adelaide Football Club for the opportunity and support they’ve given me over the past six years. It is an outstanding Club and I’ve really enjoyed playing there. I wish Brenton Sanderson and the Club all the best for the future."
