Sydney wont say 'send him to the psd' because they want everyone to believe that a trade is happening so no one makes time to hold deals or adjust contracts to get cap space to pick him up.

I can’t believe people think Tippet will just go to Sydney in the draft. What about Carlton, seems they have room in their cap if they were going to pick up Cloke. Brisbane too would have salary cap room now the Fev debt is gone. There is no need for Adelaide to threaten to redraft him. Let’s not forget Sydney has the last pick in the draft as premiers thus every team can draft him before Sydney if they can find the salary cap room. Adelaide just had to be strong from the outset which to mee seems like they werent. Noble and the other bloke they interview on 5AA Harper do not seem the types. ADELAIDE NEEDED TO COME OUT STRAIGHT AFTER TRADE WEEK START AND SAID sYDNEY NEED TO COME UP WITH A TOP 10 PICK AND ANOTHER OR HE GOES IN THE DRAFT. That means they then know from the outset they need to trade a decent player for a pick or he goes in the draft. If not Parker then Rohan . Someone will give up pick 12 for Rohan or give him to ADELAIDE TOGETHER WITH PICK 23.

We're already short for spots on the list over the ND requirement

Doughty out .....Brown / Crouch in
I can't say I have any faith in either of those two being able to make their opponent accountable, early on at least; Crouch has barely played in defence and Brown has played unaccountably down back in a SANFL side that is absolutely dominant.

In fact Brodie Smith is the only player on our list I'd currently trust in that role; a role that is more important than is given credit for. What happens when we play against a forwardline of Milne, Saad and Milera? Or Betts, Garlett and Yarran? God forbid we have to rely on a green Crouch and flaky Johncock.

Broughton would give us some much needed security - as nice as a Rutten, Talia, Otten, Shaw, Reilly, Mackay/Smith backline sounds its too tall and won't be useful against gun crumbing forwards. In fact I would have taken Surjan if not for the knee issues - he's a good player at the end of the day that could perform the role well.

I understand the concern about list spots; I would have rather we rookied Graham, but we can always rookie Tambling, CEY or Joyce if absolutely necessary.
Unless you prefer Broughton for Crouch / Brown .......remember all the crap over last 2 years ...play the kids, play the kids .....well ?;)
Gee, I don't think we can complain about playing the kids this season with the clean out over the past two years. I certainly won't be bleating about it unless Graham is played in preference to Jenkins/McKernan, or Douglas keeps his gold pass ;)

I would just like to see a mid aged small defender to replace dogga with stiffy playing up forward as there is a chance Crouch could end up with Sub role as he develops. I think we could find someone to fill this position?
Yarran/ Broughton are the only 2 that I can think of.

I remember reading somewhere that he played down back quite a bit before being drafted.

Strongly disagree, a ready-made back pocket like Broughton that can be both a stingy defender and an attacking ball user would be extremely useful in filling the gap left by Dogga.

Golden rule, trade to fill gaps, don't trade to stifle opportunity

I understand trading for a back up ruck as we don't have another 200cm player however bringing in Broughton when you have Brown, Kerridge, Crouch, Martin and Jaensch just sends the wrong message

We've said our needs are a ruck, outside mid and KPD. Broughton fills none of those needs.

We've got the back up ruck, but the other two needs look like not being filled. We missed out on Pearce because of Kurt and he would have cost us nothing.

Fair enough I didn't realise. Still a big ask when he hasn't played much of that role in the SANFL; I just don't think we're well resourced in this area of the ground. I can understand how it could reflect poorly on those others The Sloane Ranger , but I don't think Martin and Jaensch are defenders and Kerridge and Crouch seem more like midfielders or players who belong forward of centre. If we could get Broughton for a reasonable price I'd be all for it just because he truly fills a role where we are undermanned. I think I rate him higher than most though.

Another day and stll no obvious progress, we all may as well switch off our iPads until Thursday as I can't see any resolution before then

Firstly Adelaide, IMO we need to drive the process and insert maximum tension by giving Sydney a Wednesday midday deadline to propose a satisfactory trade and if they can't we walk away, with this in mind if we walk away we need to be prepared to throw Kurt into the draft.

This action will force a counter action from Kurt's management, they can either

1. Try theirvluck in the draft, or
2. Get control of the process by agreeing to a trade with his next preferred club

My main point is Sydney need to be given a deadline well before Friday

That would seem to be at odds from the statement before the Grand Final where Tippett said he would not be back next year. Strange but he could almost have been drafted by the Crows if Kurt had not flown the coop. Not sure about his fractured back though.

You got one thing right "Not sure about his fractured back though". You definitely weren't sure about that, he could hardly walk up the stairs the week before the grand final. Give the bloke a break he was injured. He was at the ground and watched the team and came back to the club and was presented to the crowd. Would have been uncomfortable time for him with all this Kurt business going on but he fronted up and would have played if he was able.
Not sure if he is AFL talent but cut the bloke some slack he played some great football during the year and deserved his selection in the Advertiser team of the year. He was definitely injured.

All your points a valid however Kerridge will be a better midfielder in couple of years if he cuts his teeth in defence

In terms of Jaensch and Martin, if there going to survive on our list they need to be gunning for any open opportunity that may become available

Couldn't agree more.

Someone will take him before Sydney, thats pretty obvious.

You start negotiations high and "reluctantly" accept less, not begin low and stay there or you get screwed. Thats why Collingwood and Port trade well. They start with outrageous demands and accept a little less, which is still more than were expecting. Sydney started with their minimum offer of 23 + unload an unwanted player to relieve our cap, and instead of laughing at them we came within a bees dyck of accepting (and may still do so).

What is wrong with Graham playing ahead of those guys if his form warrants it? Purely because Jenkins and Mckernan have been here longer? That is pretty petty, and thank goodness the coaching staff wouldn't think the same way.

I'd love to get Broughton, but he is surplus to our needs atm.

Except the 400k price tag. I don't think we would have picked him up regardless of the Kurt situation, he isn't worth that much.

What's the odds that Skurt ends up at Brisbane for pick 8?
Bloody hope so. Will they still have the cap space? Hindsights a wonderful thing but just imagine this trade period if that had happened last year.No distraction and a year to plan to attack trade week to attract a big fish with all that cash. Not mention we may have picked up Toby Green :(
