Stab - this article here references Triggy killing the deal because it required CEO to CEO talks. So yes, it does appear that the list manager and associated parties were looking to pull the trigger on Tips for JW (and presumably 23 but that's not clear here).

So I think everyone who is concerned about the trade and expressing their concerns for weeks it was heading that way... had every right to be concerned and express their disgust IMO.

If our club hasn't canvassed every club who isn't Sydney with enquiries as to whether they can fit Kurt under their cap via the PSD, if they haven't put it to the AFL about mediation, if they haven't sounded out GC and Brisbane about 11th hour deal and finally if they haven't basically gone and told Blucher to go fk himself and we'll do as we please then our list management staff need to pack their things and we need to start fresh.

Regardless of what eventuates from here on out the club needs to brief the fans on exactly what measures were taken and how the final outcome is reached. If I get a shitty email from the club saying 'we endeavoured to get the absolute best deal and rest assured all avenues were explored but in the end pick 23 + White was the absolute best that could be achieved' then I think I'll literally lose my shit.

There is just too much smoke around this for there not to be fire so I wouldn't be shocked if White ends up on our list. I just hope if that is the case, the he is there as a potential key defender and we are getting a heck of a lot better than pick 23 attached to him.

Still none of this makes sense

1. Sydney pays White contract and Bolton plays on ....then on basis of terms Tippett goes into PSD, Sydney may be still be forced by TPP to get rid of a high priced player

It's another way of Crows forcing Sydney to cough up a quality player

Just on mediation .......my guess is mediation is sought when clubs cannot agree on trade pick value of player to be traded .......i.e is player A worth 1st or 2nd round pick

In Sydney's case they've offered the best pick available ....so mediation isn't useful as it can't specify a player has to be traded or value of player

Just a question, but if Trigg is needed to get the deal moving, was it a mistake for him (and Sanderson) to be oversees while such an important trade was being negotiated ? ITs almost as if he had arrived back in Aus a couple days later the deal would be done.

I don't think sydney have even offered up pick 23.I reckon they have packaged up white with their second rounder on the inside info they received from Blutcher re kurts contract. I think they have been banking on the assumption that whatever is in that contract will allow them to only offer up a second rounder. To them by adding White makes them the fair traders they like to be known as. This is why the lawyers have been called in to see if this clause in the contract is binding. That is why Noble said that when the trade week/month is nearly done some coaches may be talked in to giving up a first rounder. I don't think we have even been offered Sydney's first pick.

I actually don't care which way we go now (PSD or #23 - but please no White). You can mount a solid argument for either, depending whether you are an ideologue (PSD) or a pragmatist (take #23).

But I really need the club to come out afterwards and tell the whole friggin story:

- was there a 'gentleman's agreement' with Tippett?
- written or verbal?
- what was in it?
- and then all the ins and outs of this last three weeks (including what happened last friday, if anything).

Any spin or covering their tracks and THEN I will be pissed off. Whatever the deal, they really need to credibly explain it to their supporters.
