It's beyond a joke, how much this has now become "trial by media". All reports coming from EQ and Caro have us guilty. And therefore we should be hung, drawn and quartered. People are reading these, and latching on to the notion that "yep, they're guilty, throw the book at them"

We have been muzzled this entire investigation. We haven't had our side told, that will happen Monday, but even then, if we are found innocent (or it's not as bad as it seems) people will still label us cheats, and people will think that we are guilty as sin. The damage has already been done.

Surprised to see this sort of rubbish floating around still. She's reported nothing but facts whilst avoiding the gratuitous hyperbole of people like Rucci and Barrett. In what possible way could her articles be construed as soap operas or mudslinging? About time you looked at your own club before shooting the messenger.

no, seriously EQ is the messenger now?

Her articles, like those of her contemporaries are not designed to be factual or deliver a message, the are designed to create controversy.

You have nothing to suggest she is reporting facts, merely gossip or innuendo, I would add, using hindsight to reflect she was close or on the money doesn't make her articles factual.

So the club can't be involved in these "side deals"... yet they let through the Judd/Visy deal:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Surely there has to be a "meaningful" third party agreement test?? i.e. turning up to a cardboard factory once a year doesn't make you a Visy Ambassador.

They should do this kind of investigation to every club in the AFL. No one can tell me that every single club in the AFL doesn't do this too and ensure their players are "looked after" by other parties. We are just dumb enough to put it on paper. Hawthorn would be the obvious potential culprit, full of stars and able to poach so many more from other clubs yet they're apparently above board:rolleyes:.

The fact is both the club and the Tippett camp are responsible for this situation having occurred. When there are consequences to that situation, both must wear blame.

You can argue about the ratio in which that blame is shared, but it's too simplistic to say we wear the blames for consequences that directly affect us and vice versa.

this is where i think the tippett camp have gone wrong in their strategy so far. they are trying to shift the entire blame on adelaide.

both parties are guilty of something here. only the severity is up for debate.

i dont see why they haven't shut their mouth, worked with adelaide and our defence team to try and minimise the damage. the tippetts have made this into Adelaide vs Tippett. it not even about that.

this is Adelaide and Tippett vs AFL

Im losing respect for the way Emma Quayle is going about things. Shes moving further away from facts and into her opinion. "Fairfax media can also reveal.." "may"...

Well I can reveal that I may be paying Patrick Dangerfield a million dollars a year... Doesn't mean I am.

Am I the only one concerned that the same bloke is acting for the AFC and Trigg?
Good point.

Need to part ways. The club should be doing everything in its power to bring Trigg down, get as much as possible pinned on him and try to clear us of as much blame as we can.

You can't possibly still be questioning her source after all she's gotten right so far..

This is where we have a disconnect, she hasn't got it all right so far

The reporting has been all duck and no dinner and there is now new information from other media outlets which suggest that the 3rd party payment to Kurt may not be a breach as reported by other media outlets

Fine.. I give up. But when it turns out she's right you lot owe her a massive apology. Likewise I will apologise for defending her if it turns out she was wrong.

Interesting choice of lawyer to represent us. The guy is really, really, really good, Rayney was as guilty as a puppy sitting next to a pile of shit. Everyone in WA thought so but somehow Edwardson convinced 12 people he wasn't which was an amazing effort, I followed the trial and was still slackjawed at the decision.
He did better than that.
There was no jury. The case was heard before a former NT Chief Justice and it was he and he alone that found Rayney not guilty.

Not so sure it's all facts there mate ... lots of guessing going on.

From the article about Van Berlo :

A SECOND Adelaide player has become embroiled in the club's salary cap scandal, with the Crows under investigation for third-party payments made to captain Nathan van Berlo outside the salary cap.
Already facing major sanctions over third-party arrangements made for Kurt Tippett, Adelaide may now face further penalties over a deal set up for van Berlo that may breach the AFL's total player payment rules.
<snip>
It is not yet known which company paid the extra money to van Berlo, who became Adelaide’s captain last year, or how much the West Australian was offered.

Seems very flimsy to me - If EQ has more information / details why not spell it out? Leaving herself open to be grouped with other headline hunters.

Oh piss off. Since when is any of this stuff fact yet? As far as I'm aware, neither the AFL, nor the AFC have released any details about any form of payments, yet apparently this stuff being reported is fact?

The word "fact" seems to be thrown around as loosely as the word "elite" on BigFooty.

No neither of us do.

what ever the result, hindsight does not make her correct or incorrect, it just provides an indication to how good her guess work was.

regardless, I wasn't actually questioning what she was saying, merely how she was saying it which reads like a soap opera - which is a trait shared by many sports journos

Which outlets are they? Are any of them outside SA?

I know yourca Collingwood supporter however I don think it will be that black and white

There will be 3 sides to the story and the truth will lie somewhere in-between however with that said I'm not saying that a breach has not been committed in this entire saga but what I am questioning is the severity of the crime that has been alleged

Jenny: I now feel your pain. Let us gather around and exchange coping techniques. I've made a suffering collage with the left over pieces of my 2012 membership I scrapped out of the microwave as a gesture of goodwill. Perhaps later we can discuss our feelings.
