Tips For Round 1: Match 1: Crows V Pies

NAB History shows that this time of year is so unpredictable, it's not on form, it's all about how clubs apptoach the NAB and where the clubs are with their programs

IMO, at this stage the crows may be a little more advanced with their ptrprtation than the Pies

Crows by 20pts :thumbsu:

I think football will be the real winner.

And the Crows by about 20 points.

My Other Tips:

I also expect the commentary to be biased;
some sort of new camera angle or "visual innovation" by which we can see the on-field action in a wholly new, different and unnecessary way;
commentators will speak authoritatively about a brand new statistic no-one's ever heard of;
there'll be lots of references to Collingwood's open captaincy position;
Anthony Rocca will prove his brother was born with all the class in the family by petulantly yelling at his teammates to deliver him the ball;
Andrew McLeod playing in second gear and still better than everyone else;
a half-empty stadium;
inane drivel about the controversial off-season;
Neil Craig will chew gum like a machine.
and i tip Birdman will do one thing to make me cheer and one thing to make me cry.

hmmmm cynical maybe, but true !:thumbsu:

I expect with that the crows to miss straight set shots for goals and then coming on the media and saying there was a swirling breeze around.

(Oh expect the Crows to nail these shots during practice !)

i dont think we'll see any crazy new visuals, being played on a polo ground overseas. if it were at the dome or mcg, then yeah

Ferris_rules, so obvious i can't believe i missed the kicking for goal.

Lots of people, including myself, tipping Adelaide to win. As at 11.30am Saturday, Centrebet has Adelaide $2.20 and Collingwood $1.63

I would have tipped you guys too but I think that the pies are more interested in the win. :thumbsd:

Really is very hard to tell for the NAB Cup games. Originally I would have thought Adelaide would have taken it more seriously, especially after a few comments by Mick Malthouse, but the Pies seem to have selected a pretty solid side. Really does depend which team actually wants to play well in the NAB Cup. While I think Adelaide would prefer to win I am actually tipping the Pies to do it reasonably comfortably. We still have a pretty ionexperienced side, and only one solid ruckman, so it will be an uphill battle. But bloody happy to have footy back!

As I posted on the game day board Adelaide has actually selected a slightly more experienced squad on average (76 games/player compared to 71/player) but a couple of Collingwood officials are quoted as saying they wouldn't go all the way to Dubai not to win and that they aren't happy to go to Albany if they lose.

Craig on the other has said he's going to try a new forward structure and a new midfeild structure, has he not?

Anyway, as you said, it all depend on who is taking it more seriously and I could be wrong in what I've decided but there you go.

Not having seen much of the Pies at all over the past few months, its hard to tell who is going to win. The Crows have looked good over the pre season and tonight will be very interesting to see how we go about the game, in terms of our game plan etc. Its exciting to see so many fresh faces and I'm really looking forward to tonight :)

After hearing the Pies only got into Dubai yesterday, my tip goes to the Crows. If Collingwood do win, I just hope they don't win by a lot..

Unfortunatley I have a funny feeling that we are wearing the red uniforms. But why should that affect our performance and if so thats a mental problem. Lets put last year behind OK. We'll win if we play hard and wear them out. Its only preseason but I think it will be a good tight game with the Pies to win by 3 points. (Hope I'm wrong) I wasn't wrong when I tipped the Hawks to win that final by 3 points.

Today's weather forecast for Dubai (city) is 23C and Fine, clear. Where we are playing could be a bit warmer.

At 12.30, Adelaide moved to $2.30, so i'm on. Token bet tho. Especially after reading ? Crowgirl's comment that Collingwood only got there yesterday.

The performance of Douglas, Sellar, Tippett, MacKay, Maric and Jacky is what i will be most interested in seeing tonight.

Was about to post the same thing but thought id be lazy and say I agree that the seeing how the youngsters go is the main interest for me also and not the score.

If only just three of these players get a regular game and get in our best players often by round 10, we'll go alright.

Dale Thomas was interviewed on JJJ yesterday afternoon and he said it was 8am in Dubai, at the time of the interview. So either they landed fairly early yesterday morning or it was the night previous

Agreeing with betterthanyou;
Yes it will be interesting to see them play, this is the game they need to stand out in if they want to make a commitment in the 2008 team.

Im tipping Crows being infront the whole match but only by a little margian and slipping away to win by 15-20 points tonight.
CARN YOU CROWS
