After leading by double figures at the end of of each period except the one that mattered!

I have been hearing the word 'CHOKE' alot recently. I cant believe this bullcrap. Once again the best team through the course of the season, but when it really counts we choke. :(

Congratulations to Adelaide, too good for us again. :(

I know the inevitable choking tag will be used again but I've got to say I was very proud of our performance.

Obviously I didn't see much of today's game because I was too busy watching the saints fall agonisingly short but from what I saw and heard we did our best.

To lose Chris Anstey who dominated game 2 and then Brett Wheeler with a knee as well (depsite battling on bravely), to have D Mac playing with Osteitis Pubis and Darren Smith not used despite being in the line-up and for us to take the series down to the wire was a gutsy performance.

Good luck for the finals Ant and the other sixers fans, not sure who your opponent will be at this stage but I think you've got what it takes to win the title again.

(And good luck to you too Easty if you're not out the back having a quickie with Boti again  )

The Titans can use injuries to explain this loss but the fact is they should never have been in this position. They had a full team against the Tigers (bar Darren Smith, no loss there) and lost to a team with the leagues best ever player unable to have an impact, this years MVP sick and with a groin complaint, no Nathan Taylor and virtually no Brett Jeffries. If they had have won that series like they should they would not have had to play Adelaide, the best side in the league (for now).

And when you say it is ineviable the Titans will be tagged chokers you must realise there is a reason behind it.
The Titans have lost their last 5 playoff series and 2 years in a row have only lasted as long in the playoffs as they have by being lucky losers. It is now 6 seasons in a row where the Titans have been top 2-3 and in at least 3 of those years first, ye they haven't won a title. The Titans being chokers is not just a tag, but is a fact

Well done 6ers - the real team for all South Australians!
To label the Titans chockers in this series is a little unfair - no Anstey for game 3, basically no wheeler either. It was left up to 'the bear' to 'man' the middle - hahaha good luck!
Good to see the Bear with a sore head (Rees - as we've named him) dominate the middle!
Will anyone be able to stop big Willie - 33 points , wow what a player he is!
Hoping the Tigers get up and hopefully there will be a final in Melbourne next week end will be good to see it before the Power match on Sunday. Then back home to see the 6ers win it in two. Hopefully the Bear with the sore head will come out and proclaim a sweep - good work Anstey you seven foot kn*b.

I'm not denying we have a terrible playoff record.

What I'm doing is talking about this playoff series on its own and I maintain that our series against Adelaide was a gutsy performance. We fought it out to the end with half our team not playing or playing injured.

If you go back and look at our record we have not achieved what we should have. Of course. As a club we have underachieved. But talking about this season on its own I thought we went out fighting to the bitter end. Should the 2001/02 team be held responsible for what happened 5 or 6 years ago? I don't think so.

Still, congratulations to Adelaide once again.

Good luck for tomorrow, if you can win at a venue where the Pigs have lost only twice at all season you deserve to make the grand final series.

Re: Re: Titans choke

Bloody hell. I hate you Brian, you lead us on year after year! Next time I'm at a regular season game, if we win I'm yelling out, 'Do that in the playoffs!'

Bring back the North Melbourne Giants   :(

Hear hear. If that was the case I wouldn't have to follow a team with Tony Ronaldson in it.

Chris Jent for President!!

Ah yes, Sixers back in the Grand Final where they belong....after being ripped off last year, Phil Smyth has once again led us to within striking distance of a title....written off in the pre-season (myself included, while Carfino had us 8th, Kings 1st :p ) the coaching of Phil and the awesome backcourt duo, Farley and Maher, have taken us to a position I wouldn't have thought possible :D

I thought the Titans were valiant this afternoon, they stuck it out but as Goorjian said afterwards, they just ran out of gas (and nearly, fit players) I almost feel sorry for them *shock*horror* :p

Nah, not really.

As pointed out, they should have never been in such a position (relying on 2 wins in Adelaide) and though they were unlucky to lose key players, that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Goorj was good after the match and acknowledged in finals there are no excuses. Whether the choking tag is unfair......well, probably for the last game, but overall in the playoffs, I'd say the Titans did do another 'Greg Norman'.

Anyway, onto the GF series against either the Tigers or West Sydney, first game in Adelaide on Friday night. If I had a choice I'd like to play the Tigers, for no other reason than it would be a great series between two clubs who play attractive b-ball (same goes for the Razorbacks as well I suppose).

Guys, guys, jumping off the Titans bandwagon already?? :p

Oh dear, I hate to see these manufactured, amalgamated clubs tearing at the seams as supporters lose faith..... ;)

Props to the 36ers, they deserve to be in the finals and deserve to go in as favourites.

Well the Titans choke again...no real surprise, i just hope WSR can beat the Tigers and then go on and win it all.

If the Titans choked, what did the Wildcats do?

Got a broom?

The Wildcats just lost

They didn't choke?

They finished second, had the best form going into the playoffs and arrogant tossers like yourself predicted a title.

Then they get swept 2-0.

If that isn't choking then i don't know what is.

Yeah they finished second but with all 4 other playoff teams breathing down there necks. They were 1-7 at one point in the season so if they were chokers they would have wiltered and fallen away. They fought hard to get to the playoffs and lost there last game of the year so they werent particularly hot going in.

They were beaten by a better side.....

Titans though have a history of choking.

The playoffs are completely different from the regular season, in the playoffs everyone is relatively equal.

The Titans lost in three in the semi finals, the Wildcats lost in round one, in straight sets, both were disappointing but clearly the Titans performed better.

Yes but were not arguing who had the better playoff run, were arguing who is the choker. The Titans are the chokers they do it year in year out.
