Now let me preface this by saying I've been one of the harshest critics of Maxy through thou the year but he definitely made me look silly today.
Being at the ground it was obvious his leadership is invaluable and the fact he went up a notch today despite not being 100% speaks volumes of a great man he is

Inspired effort today from the captain.

Went as hard as anyone for 100% of the time and would not give an inch.

His game overall, was fantastic.

I wasn't filled with optimism about his return.. But we didn't really have any other option anyway.

The leadership and courage he showed today by playing and playing well was immense and would've lifted the boys massively

He is our one true leader, and as I have said previously, we won't win the flag without him.

A great return from the skipper, he was great today, along with his fellow "returnees" in Davis and Shaw.

He certainly showed the doubters why he is an automatic inclusion and with Maxy back it took pressure of Harry to 'manage' the backline and it was great to have him back. Have a week off now Maxy and we will see you in the Preliminary.

He may not be the most talented or skilled Pie but he has other important skills.

Honestly don't understand how people (obviously supporters from other clubs..) call Maxy the worst captain of all the AFL sides, you don't have to be a genius to see from today's game alone, how valuable he is to our side. Even if his thumb was bothering him, he certainly didn't let it affect his game, he went 110% at everything, and seemed to be instructing our backline well.

Well done for posting the fact that you previously criticised Maxwell, but how about a promise that you will never do it again!!

I was a little nervous about Maxwell. He hasnt played much footy this year and his form hasnt been that good..... but he responds so well when the going gets tough.

I think Harry really loves having Maxwell beside him. Fantastic effort NIck !

Yep. Agree with most posters here. Maxy's leadership is so important. You heard the commentators saying that even when the ball isn't down there, he is always active, talking to the boys and keeping the structures in place. So valuable to the team its not funny.

Hate to say I told you so... His determination alone makes him one of those players you need in your team. He'll chase the ball everytime until it's over the line. His ability to lead is on another level from most over captains in the league.
