To those people that think our season is over

It's a pathetic attitude to have; relying on other teams failing so we can undeservedly slip into the finals.

Not having a go at the OP, rather discussing attitudes at a club level. The Saints this year would have unbeliavably positive attitudes about winning. Hawthorn's not quite so good.

Like most supporters, I have been riding the last 3 weeks thinking, "If only we win this week". Each game show we are just not good enough this year. I keep hoping the "Form" just appears, like in the last quarter of the North gaem, but it doesn't.

If we had held on and beaten the Cats, I think it may have snowballed and we could have done some damage in September.

But as they say, "If my Aunty had balls, she'd be my uncle".

Season Over.

We play Essendon the week after that so it looks to me like our destiny will still be in our hands.

Our effort has been awesome the last few weeks, unlike earlier in the season when it looked like we weren't running for each other.

I hate to put a downer on anything, but there's one stat that's been in the back of my mind for the last couple of months...

Since the inception of the top 8 system, every year without fail, one team from the previous years top 4 falls out of the 8 completely the following year.

With Geelong, StKilda, & The Dogs all firmly entrenched, unfortunately unless tradition takes a break, this year we'll be that team.

I've been hoping like hell that the Hawks were gonna break that run, but it's looking more and more unlikely as the rounds play out...

If we can't beat the St Kilda "reserves" on that York Park shitheap, then we have no hope of knocking off a full strength Adelaide. Pretty sure they would be busting their balls to finish top 4.

While we might not deserve to play finals luckily we're still a chance, so grow some balls and lets have a crack and support our team who delivered us a flag. Or if you just wanna quit when things get a bit hard and don't go your way piss off to England.

As terrible as things have gone this year we are still only 5 wins from a Prelim, and thats what every player, coach, supporter and member should be aiming for IMO.

As Stephen Quartermaine said on Triple MMM, "Sandringham Def Hawthorn, by 25 points" Says it all. If you cant beat a VFL side, then the effort, attitude, desire, Want, is def not there. They are all looking forward to a nice holiday in Sep. They have found out that there are some really great deals, the catch, have to travel in September. So that was/Is the plan!!!!

I disagree with Quarters (wow, there's a change, NOT). If you are going to call Saints, Sandringham, shouldn't you then call the Hawks Box Hill especially as we had more players out then them?

I do agree that unless we can get 3 we missed on the weekend back and find the form again, it won't matter for long if we make the 8 or not. The funny thing about it, looking at the run, if Carlton beats Port this week and Brisbane beats the teams below it, we could get in with we win our last two games! Shocking stuff!

I know some people hate the idea of games in Tassie, but you cannot refer to York Park as a shit heap. It has a surface as good as, if not better than any in the league. Conditions on Saturday were also fine. The wind didn't blow too hard and the rain pretty much stayed away. The standard of the game was more due to two factors.

1. The fact that the Saints were missing 7 and the Hawks 8 players, so skill standard was down.

2. Saint played a huge flood all day, and the hawks couldn't work it out. Saints won the game because they were so good at applying pressure as we tried to Handball through the flood. Now I was there, and yeah I was yelling out for them to kick it too, but to be honest, there was nothing to kick too most of the time.

We might slip into the 8, we might not. I just hope that we get a few games into Bailey, Muston, Morton, Moss or whoever else is fit enough. Also wouldnt mind seeing Lisle, even if he isn't ready. Can't hurt.
