If Harley Reid can get away with a fine for a deliberate kick to trip a player with the ball, then Toby should be good.
Except, he’ll cop the Steven May “bad guy” tax, so expect a week for this one.
1st point - you’re right, as in kicking doesn’t get you a suspension but it damn well should. Can’t believe Reid wasn’t suspended, what more did he have to do to get a suspension? Break his leg?
However to the groin is worse if anything.
2nd point - Toby doesn’t get a bad guy tax, it’s a common misconception. He is just a dirty flog of a player who gets away with being fined most of the time.
The suspensions he has copped are pretty obviously clear.

I think the difference here is that what Harley Reid did I think could easily be explained as a reflex - which isn't to excuse it, it's still poor and I think he should definitely have been suspended for it, but what Greene has done here is almost pre-meditated and something he thought about doing before he actually did it.
He also doesn't really have a bad guy tax. He's just a dirty player who gets suspended when he deserves it. Let's not forget it took until he eye-gouged two star players in back to back weeks before being suspended for it - both of these happened in finals.

It was a mature donkey kick to the nuts, part of Toby's redemption arc. Greene has really redeemed himself, used to kick blokes in the chin, this is a massive improvement, next he will just be kicking their ankles, and before you know it he won't even be kicking babies out of prams at the park anymore.

He almost was when he went to court for bashing a security officer who said he feared for his life.

GWS Giants footballer Toby Greene is being sued over a drunken attack on a bouncer at a Melbourne bar more than five years ago that has left the victim unable to work.

Mornington man Terrence Payne was working as a security guard at Zagame's Caulfield restaurant in May 2014, when he was assaulted by Greene and a friend after they were refused service of alcohol.
According to a writ filed in the Victorian County Court, the brawl left Mr Payne with post-traumatic stress disorder and depression, as well as a fractured fourth finger that required surgery.
"The plaintiff was dragged down stairs, repeatedly punched and kicked, struck with a crutch, pushed to the ground, pinned on the ground, and placed in a choke-hold and/or headlock manoeuvre using legs," the court documents show.
Greene pleaded guilty to unlawful assault in the Melbourne Magistrates Court after a string of other charges were dropped. No conviction was recorded.
As well as a court-imposed $2500 fine, his club Greater Western Sydney imposed its own $5000 penalty and a five-game suspension.
In a victim impact statement, the bouncer said he had suffered nightmares and believed that one more punch or kick could have killed him

Okay but like... he still attempted to kick someone in the groin even if he didn't make full contact (he made enough contact for Rampe to still jump with the impact). Attempted striking is an offence in the AFL so at the very least acknowledge it.
