From what I heard, for todays match we were competitive for about 1/4 of the whole game.

I hear people bitching about how a 53 point stuffing is the end of the world.

I dont hear anyone saying anything about how the club was only looking at a 4-5 goal loss until JR went down with an injured thigh with about 10 minutes to go and suddenly, we lost our best mid sized defender who rebounds out and our defence is short and the filth run it in at will and the score blows out to 53 points.

It's amazing how a simple thing like an injury can really ruin our days.

Despite the scoreline, I am not overly upset over the loss because we are a very inexperienced team playing against a good one.

You guys looked most dangerous going through the middle of the ground quickly, then delivering the ball down to the Irishman, allowing the smal forwards crumbs if he didn't mark it. Judd and Murphy are awesome midfielders, though.

Plenty of positives I agree however to lose by 53 points was devastating.

yeah... the 53 points sucked the big one, but it wasnt going to be as bad as that until Russell went down injured and they had free run into our defence while we tried to fill the hole.

I think at the end their worst six were much better than our worst six.

I have been thinking what i am about to write for a while now. Why did we get rid of Bentick and replace him with a slower version of him? Mclean has been shown up a number of times now. Not only slow with his legs but hands and decision making as well. What exactly does he offer that Bentick didn't? I for one was not very happy we got rid of him, however to then get Mclean is a slap in the face to Bentick. And it also staggers me that Waite is not in our side.
Carlton did try , however our turn overs and general composure were missing , this needs to change if we are to reach th enext level.

Well done to Collingwood, they were much more compsed than us and deserved the win.

Great Game from Stetanta as well, must be th ebest game i have seen him play.

I have to say Dram - that is a lame excuse that I did not even notice :(

I would not say we were only competitive for a quarter of the game, I would say more like 1/4 of the game we were dominant, a 1/4 of the game we were equal and about half the game we were out played. We fought back from 38 points down to get within a kick, and at one point kicked 8 of the last 10 goals. Never mind the margin, blowouts are only half a quarter of footy, we were well in this game for long parts of it and there were some very good signs. Some posters think Irish is not a gun KPP, well today he silenced some of you, he is having a great year and showed today he is plenty capable. We are not that far off, we are still coming but we are not far off. Hate losing the either of Ess or Coll but a lot to look forward to with this group.

As AB's allocated buddy I feel qualified to answer this. McLean finds first possesion in bounces a little more than AB - while AB laid more tackles which could have been due to being given more of a stopping role than Brock. I agree that in the CB's Brock is way to slow to get the handpass off and therefore his value is greatly diminished. I cannot see any more blocking being provided for Juddy who is simply a freak

I am not making an excuse for the team, but our defence was unbalanced for the 3 minutes that it took for Russell to go off the ground for treatment then we struggled to match up after that :(

Even after an almost 10 goal loss some of you guys are still delusional

Question... how much do you think you deserved to lose by?

Smashed in the 2nd and 4th quarters, lost the 1st by a goal and played your best footy in the 3rd to win by ONE POINT.

Injuries sminjuries, you were beaten by a better side.

This is the hard part 30yo. Am happy with Carlos in a multi option forward line but have to say that the Wobbles best forward prospects are young and I would not mind having Gumbleton and Hurley for my key forwards in the years to come :(

Not one mention that you werent the better side, clearly that you were. Whilst some may suffer delusions of grandiuer, the majority dont and know our state. Good luck to your mob. May you go far in the finals and do what your team has made an art from of doing.

Beaten by a better side. Beaten by arguably the best side in the competition at present firing on all cylinders.

Collingwood are such an even team playing with amazing intensity. The game was lost in the second quarter when we allowed them to get out to 38 points.

While we were gallant to get back within 3, as Commetti said on the commentary, getting in front is the tough part. Football is a game of momentum and we did the best with ours in the 3rd but Collingwood were always going to come back.

Not overly disappointed with the loss today as barring the last ten minutes, we held our own.

I thought what really hurt us was time on in the 3rd when we undid all our hard work - a couple of bloody ordinary kicks into the forward line by Gibbsy really hurt

Are people still clinging to this as an excuse?
FFS. We were flogged all day, third quarter aside. We stuff around with the ball and create goals for the opposition because of this.

Several places should be up for grabs this week. How anyone can say Bret Thornton will get traded/delisted when his contract is up is deluded!
We just conceded 24 goals. 155 points! Jamieson got flogged. Several Pies players had a free run today and we paid for it.

Jarrad Waite must return. He is more talented and is more of a threat than Henderson. Hendo has almost had no effect in the last 2 games.

After our win last week I was expecting a lot more. I still teams who f**k around with the ball make Collingwood look better than they are. But good win.

This is in no way a troll but I guess you guys will probably red card me for this but here it goes;

While I agree you guys can certainly take more than a few positives out of the game i.e setanta, russell, judd and murphy I don't understand how more than a few of you arn't that dissapointed by the loss.

52 points is a fairly substantial margin, and from flogging the cats last week to this, the last thing I would be is satisfied.

When the pies lost to the saints a few weeks ago, I was furious. As shown last week you can match it with the best teams in the comp, anything less than that should be a disappointment.

Dont get me wrong... I am not terribly happy with the loss, but I am not heartbroken over it...

We are a better side than what was on display out there today and if we had played all day like we did in the third, then it would have been a lot closer than it was.

I am sure that we will bounce back against the Aints and break the hoodoo they have against us.

I guess it's easy for me to sit up on my high horse after a win and pass judgment. But you guys are a good team and any loss should be a bitter disappointment especially considering how good your best football can be.

Carlton are a top 6-8 team, Collingwood slightly ahead as a top 4 team. You guys should really have put up more of a fight today, especially after you got to 3 points down. A 52 point loss is never acceptable no matter the opposition.

You guys deserve better!

I think people have to give credit to opposition sides when they don't play as well as they usually do, because otherwise you look like you're just looking for excuses. I mean, Geelong didn't play as well as they normally do last week; I'd hazard a guess if they did, they obviously would have won (I don't think many people can argue against this).

Aside from last week, your only wins have been against Adelaide and Richmond (the 2 worst sides in the competition - 0-6...)

Anyway, not having a dig at anyone, I'm delirious enough as it is :P, but yeah, I don't think after beating Geelong you should be making those excuses. Again, that's not up to me though :)

Having said that, aside from 2 bad mistakes early (everyone makes them), we should've brought some kryptonite for Judd. What a _____ machine. Aside from Irish (who really just kicked straight), all credit goes to the man that from my skewed vantage point, almost single handedly gave you back the lead from a 40 point deficit. Definitely brought the crowd back into it :P

About right, i am happy with the game today we were beaten by a very good side. The Pies will go far this year me thinks.

Cheers TBL, Nice to see a couple of decent Pies supporters who have some constuctive things to say.

FWIW I seriously think you guys have a good chance of getting the big one this season. (you'll never know how much that hurt to type)

We put up a huge fight to get within 3 points after letting the margin slip to 38.

Kicking 3 or 4 goals in a row and getting within a couple isn't the hard part, it's maintaining it and stopping the opposition from scoring when they gain the momentum that is.

A 10 minute lapse in the 2nd really cost us the game. The margin isn't a true reflection of the game as Collingwood scored a few goals late once the game was well and truly over.
