The last time Goldstein was a good player hawthorn were the dominant team.

When the Bulldogs' third string ruckman kills you, you are shit

Well you just signed a bloke who hasn't played a good game all year to a 5 year deal. Well done Doggies.

And what's that got to do with the price of eggs?

Ps - that guy happens to be a norm smith medallist in his early 20s who was pretty good at the weekend days after resigning

One of the worst Norm Smith medalists ever. Kicked it to the Swans more times than the Bulldogs.

Picken, Kennedy and Boyd were all clearly better than JJ

But what does this all have to do with Goldstein being a worthless over the hill ruckman not fit to be mentioned alongside Gawn and Mumford?

Goldstein is younger than Mumford and yes still better than him.

And Goldstein was better than Mumford in 2016 so I don't know what you halfwits are even talking about.

This is how bad Mumford is, he is still averaging less disposals, less marks, less score involvements, less meters gained, than a bloke out of form.

The blokes only highlight is knocking out Libba.

Classy. Like your shot at Tom Boyd's mental health the mods thankfully deleted.

18 teams in the league would take Mumford over Goldstein now. North even prefer a project player and a 18 year old kid to him

Right because the North supporting Todd Goldstein hater and Tom Boyd fanboy gives a **** about players mental health.

The mods are a pack of hypocrites considering the shit thrown at Todd by North supporters this last year.

Who's the project player?

I reckon he'd be worth a punt at the Tigers. North would have to pay half his salary though. Considering his age and form the third rounder we got from GWS for Deledio last year would be about right.

Probably not what North fans would want in return but it will all come down to if the North sees his contract as restrictive in signing other players up on big deals.

Whichever club he goes to at end of year, I don't foresee mass excitement from the fans.

I'd trade him for a pick in the 50's if a team took his full salary.
North would have to add something into that trade for a team to take his full salary

The AFL is going to see their first salary dump trade soon and the shit will hit the fan. In the NBA teams are forced to give up an additional asset to get rid of the bad contract (or attached a bad contract to an asset and get little in return).

If the AFL ever introduces trading without the players consent this will happen a lot

It's already happened - Palmer for 105 and Marchbank and friends for (effectively) a second round pick were both examples. Despite Hawthorn's denials, one could argue Jordan Lewis was similar given how blindsided he was.

Yep, the 76ers have been the best at it...

You think Lewis was a salary dump?

Disagree on all of those.

- Palmer would have been on F all salary. The trade is just a means to get him to the club he wants to go. Same thing happened with Shane Biggs and Michael Talia
- Marchbank, Pickett and a future 2nd for 3rd, 4th and future 1st is a bit lopsided but GWS were hunting for points werent they?. Neither Marchbank or Pickett would have been on big dollars either.
- I think Lewis is the closest but that seemed like he was pissed at Hawthorn shopping him around and just wanted to leave

Palmer really wasn't on F all salary. GWS paid him a massive premium to switch clubs and then re-signed him at overs because they still had plenty of cap space. When they were brought to normal list size and cap space in one year, instead of staggered like had previously been the rules, Palmer was getting paid way out of proportion to the rest of the list. Palmer wanted to stay, he didn't request a trade and there were no media reports about him leaving, but GWS really wanted his contract gone and he agreed to the trade.

I stuffed up on the Marchbank trade. Yeah, that one's fine. I was thinking of the Plowman trade - Geelong's 2016 first-round pick, 28, 77 and 95 for pick 8 (better than Geelong's pick), Lachie Plowman (valuable), Jed Lamb (dump, paid a premium to swap from the Swans), Andrew Phillips and Liam Sumner (dump).

Reality for North may well be :

* Make him the highest paid reserve grade ruckman in history for seasons 2018 and 2019
Or
* Play him in the seniors for seasons 2018 and 2019 and watch Pruess walk out the door
Or
* Accept a 2nd or 3rd rounder and pay a hefty % of his salary to unload him to another club

At Goldy's age and having been omitted to the reserves in favor of Daw , that's about where it sits ...

Similarities to the Lobbe situation.
Not really, Lobbe was always trash who just over-performed for 6 months and was able to con the club of a huge contract. Goldstein at his best is one of the best ruckman in the league. On current form though he is worth very little, but if a club is willing to take a risk on him, and it looks like it will be a huge risk, it could seriously pay didvidends. Could be one of the bargain pickups of the trade period. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

It's similar in that the large contract will put off potential suitors.

Only needs rest, been carrying the rest of those duds all year, with apologies to Ben Brown.

"Reality is" he's about as washed up as Kruezer.

Todd is tracking slightly better this year than Kruezer in 2016 (27 years old).

I'm amazed you didn't trade him for a 3rd round pick.

Reports of Goldsteins demise are greatly exagerrated.

Kruezer is younger and in red hot AA form .

Goldy has been omitted to the reserves in favor of Daw and then there's the not so little matter of Pruess .

Reality or denial ... your choice

Kruezer is younger and in red hot AA form .

A whopping 22 months which equates to 3/5ths of nothing when both players are over 25.

Last year Kruezer was the beigest of the beige. It just goes to show that things can turn around quickly and our bloke already has the runs on the board. You're evaluation of a 2nd or 3rd round pick (30-45) is absurd.

Goldy has been omitted to the reserves in favor of Daw and then there's the not so little matter of Pruess .

THis is about testing out Majak and helping Goldy get over the fumbles with a run in the seconds. If we were playingfor a finals spot today, Goldstein would be in and Daw would be out.

Reality or denial ... your choice

When viewed properly, i'm happy with the reality of the situation. You should adjust your assumptions accordingly.
