Yep. Another North supporter making an enquiry.

Was just wondering about the kid. I know he's a burly FF type, in the Fevola/Gherig mold. He's a rookie on your list.

Will he get promoted?
Is he available for trade?
Will he make your team next year?
How good will he be, in your opinon?

Cheers :thumbsu:

I don't think we have the right to trade him. It's either promote him onto the senior list, or he is up for grabs in the pre season draft (maybe even the regular draft?)

He should be promoted, but I don't reckon he will be a regular feature in the 22, but pretty handy to have as back up.

Hard to tell how good he may become, but he was 2nd in the VFL goalkicking this year, which suggests he does have something to work with.

he deserves to get promoted. kicked a heap of goals in the 2's this year.

but he wont get many oppurtunities at afl level in the next 2 years cos he's behind bloke like mooney, nablett and hawkins.

i think he can be a good afl player if he gets a chance.

funny to see all opposition supporters enquiring and trying to shark cats players.......

If you ask me i dont think geelong should even take part in the national draft, no need to fix the right formula if the formula works.

Gees you have some stiff competition but that sir is the single most arrogant post I have read from a Geelong supporter this year.

i still can't believe he isn't on a senior list as yet..
Saw this bloke in the u/18's he kicked 10 that day with an a ankle injury.
He did it all- crumbed, took a nice pack mark, and did very well on the lead. When I saw him that day, i was salivating at the idea/ prospect of having him at west coast. But i never heard of him again for a little while..

He has a brother, Nathan, anyone know if he's any good? I think he plays in the SANFL?

surely he is getting promoted?!

side issue: he was one of the players in suits on the ground during presentations on GF day. what is the general story with that? Obviously not all VFL players were on the ground post-match that day... I thought it was just the highly regarded players.

Somehow I am reading into that they they obviously rate him and couldn't imagine them not promoting him???

Hey north supporters: do you want Charlie Gardiner, Playfair or Spencer?

I don't rate Spencer, but I think Charlie and Henry have got a few AFL games left in them

You guys seriously need a half forward. I reckon Charlie could be good for you. Think about it

My thought is Charlie might go to Adelaide

You don't really need Playfair, but if you did take him it could free up another one of your big guys to go forward

My other thought is that Playfair is going to Sydney who are desperate for tall backs

As for Grima, I really can't see the cats letting him go but they are obviously under pressure with numbers on their list and salary cap so you never know (And Grima is 20 - born feb 87)

I really don't care about him.. I watched all vfl games this year..
he always reminded me Kent Kingsley.. do not exactly know why.. but..
Anyway, I will promote Davenport ahead of him.

Younger brother, Alex, coming through this year.
Went to draft camp. I think he's a bit shorter and plays a different position. Backline??

Anyway, I think I'd like to see us elevate Davenport and maybe even Lonergan before him.

Davenport is a goal kicking midfielder with pace. Even though we won the flag this year, I still feel its something we lack. I mean, we have Gary Ablett but after that, there arent too many mids with pace and goal kicking ability.

Lonergan was extremely promising in the game when he got injured and his grand final effort showed that talent. If the year had've gone on longer then i think we would've seen his best come back.

Grima, whilst he is a goal kicking tall, probably won't make it on our list. he is behind Mooney, N.Ablett, Ottens and Hawkins for a tall forward position. But i can see him being much more use at a club like North, who probably lack kep forward targets. Thompson is coming back from serious injury, Petrie is probably more suited to the backline and Edwards isnt tall.
Besides, his kicking is a little off sometimes, which brings up the Kingsley comparison.

Looking to our other rookies....

Reynolds is gone IMO. Was looked at being the nominated rookie but got injured. I think that was it for him.

Bedford looks promising, still needs to bulk up a bit and will only get better with experience. Played a few good games in the VFL.

As much as we like to bag Charlie on here, he was great in the VFL this year, and deserved a chance in the 1s (IMO) ahead of Playfair.

If Todd Grima can play well in the forward line why can he not play well in the back line? I would like to think that we pick the best players available. He is the same height as Scarlett (that's the only comparison I will make) and has good smarts and I think that he will be a handy player.
Why lock him into the forward line?

God, if Grima isn't promoted I will be spewing! In my opinion, he is an absolute must for promotion. Too good a player to be ignored!

I'll be seriously pissed if Grima doesn't get promoted. The bloke's been a revelation in the VFL for two years and deserves his shot. Besides, when you've got Spencer, Playfair and Gardiner as your back up key positions, then you've got room to make a move. Lonergan is another that needs to get bumped up at the expense of the three stooges.

Absolutely, the comeback of this guy was amasing, as much as I hate Adam Hunter I can't help but compare.

The VFL grand final Lonergan played the first half as tall defender and was very serviceable and the second half played forward and kicked six goals.....tall guys that can do that are rare as hens teeth.

i just wonder if occasionly he'll get the yips backing into packs at afl level which could hurt the team
