It's one of those situations you absolutely can't begrudge a player for leaving, given the circumstances.

Even better, and a credit to Tom's attitude and work ethic, is that although he knew he'd be going, he still gave his all until the very end. Some other players could take a leaf out of his book.

I think the Lions second rounder could be about right for Bell. Unfortunate that you will lose Bell but more unfortunate for the Bell Family.
Yeah I think the overwhelming consensus is one of understanding from us. While we wouldn't like to lose him, can completely understand why he's going.

You're picking up a gem!

agreed, 2nd rounder (if #21), is slightly overs TBH...

I think we will find a pick between 20-30 for Bell. It depends on if the Casboult rumours have any legs.

Never good when a player you want is leaving your club. Makes it a bit easier knowing he has genuine reasons for going home.

Really bad news for Ding Dong! Would have been a very tough year for him and he is one who can definitely hold his head high. When you hear stories like this it really shows the enormous character a guy like Bell has and you can see why he has constantly improved and got the most out of himself.

I really feel for the guy and wish him nothing but the best !!!!!! You knew when Bell took the field that he would run through fire (and the occasional opposition player) for the team.

The difference between Bell and Henderson/Yarran etc is that Bell gave his all 100% of the time, even under tough circumstances, where as the others cracked a hissy fit and gave up. You are a champ Bell !!!!!! Just please, if you can, run through Robinson for me in a training drill ;)

The Bash Brothers reunited!

All the best to Bell with his dad and with his footy . Leaving for the right reason. Loved to have kept him but family first always. Always gave his all for the Navy Blue.

All the best to you and yours Tommy - will genuinely miss you at Carlton - you are the type of player we need more of not less - bigger loss to us than Yarran OR Henderson.

Dude is such a unique player. Combination of upper body strength with leg speed is a huge asset to have. Avg 21 touches and nearly a goal a game. Not to mention played all 22. Huge loss in the rebuild, but best of luck to the lad.

Best of luck Tom... I hope that your dad recovers as well as my dad did from his cancer issues. I won't be looking forward to seeing him running around in the paddlepops colours, but family comes first.

Tommy put in a huge effort week in week out, thats a credit to himself under the circumstances.
Will miss seeing him running around in the Blues jumper but in saying that, i lost both my parents at a young age, you cant get them back once they are gone. He should cherish every moment he can, his football will always be there for him.
Goodluck Tommy to you and your family!!
You'll always be a Blue boy in my eyes as it takes courage to do what you've done, right up to the last game in the Navy Blue!

Good luck son, thank you for playing such a huge heart. Good luck with your dad's challenge.

We could get involved in a 3 way trade with West Coast if this is the case.

Brisbane want Bell
West Coast want Redden

Anything on the West Coast list that is gettable and worthwhile for us.

something between Kennedy and pick 36
Big Jack Darling may be gettable after his grand final choke...

That's probably why we had to delist Matthew Watson.

So Darling wouldn't be scared coming over to the Blues.

(For those who aren't aware... Watto famously destroyed Darling in a championship game back in '10).
