lmao Monkster.

I love these bands that kick and scream all the way to the bank.

Oasis did write some big tunes though and backed it up with recordings full of attitude.

LMAO@ listening to Gwynith Paltrows boyfriends band to feel individual also.
I didn't say he listened to Coldplay to be individual I said they were the Boyband of British Rock of this decade. :p

Don't get me wrong I liked (and still do like Oasis) but they were a boyband who could play instruements IMO, and that whole Noel and Liam belting each other up didn't do much for my opinion of them.

BTW I was never a big fan of Blink 182 (in fact I don't even think they have a song I would choose to listen to).

Well, personally I'd classify Blink as a "Pop-Punk" band.
Now thats a contradiction of terms if i've ever heard one. "Pop-Punk" i think im going to be sick.

The lack of knowledge on this thread is staggering, Blink where the pioneers of sweetFA. I could name a plethora of bands that where doing the same thing better years before Blink came on the scene, the difference is Blink went out of their way to appeal to the lowest commen denominator, girls wanted to be with them, blokes wanted to be like them. The musical ability and lyrical substance of the band was sub par all the way.

We could get into another "what is punk" argument, but in the mid 90's right through to now, the definition of punk rock is somewhat (thankyou guttermouth) "A loud fast and deliberately offensive style of rock music".
That's actually the definition of punk from the Oxford dictionary.

When dude ranch got released, blink was my favourite band. But when enema of the state got released, i knew they were starting to go poppy, but enjoyed their fame and stayed on the bandwagon. I basically got to learn more about them and i liked what I saw.

The music they played wasnt rocket science but i loved their lyrics and their characters. They loved their fans and tried to do good to the world.

This is a very sad break up because watching their last dvd, they had a section where mark and tom just expressed their love for each other and their fans. I dont really care the band broke up, but i do find it say that their friendship ended. Hopefully it is mendable.

Thanks for this post.

Get over the old school punk and relate it to these days and you'll get it.

Mate, i get it, more than you might think.

'Pop-Punk' is an oxymoron as 'Punk' by its truest defenition is unpopular. A clever marketing spin put on by the record labels sell uninspired bands with limited musical/lyrical ability to those who respond to the 'Punk' image but may not find 'Punk' music easily accessable. But like you said earlier, lets not get into a what is and isn't 'Punk' argument.

yeah, really interesting read, both interviews... sounds like a band that isn't too fun to be in...
probably because they take it all so seriously...except the part about selling ouy for an MTV reality show.

LMAO@ Crying for cred from the set of your reality show.
