Hislop is the poor mans Tasmanian version of David Armitage who kicked his arse in the 2006 Under 18 championships.If the Tigers had not swapped their pick 8 in that draft you could have had ARMO and wouldnt that have made Craig McCrae happy.

We were going to take riewoldt with pick 8 and when he was there at 13 it was great and we picked up polak not that he is a bonus anymore but still we got a player for free

Armitage's parents are both Tasmanian .I think his father was born in Burnie which is where Hislop is from if i am not mistaken.
I agree it seems that Jack Riewoldt and David Armitage's development and standing are line ball at this stage.

i think people need to read inbetween the lines a little differently with why Hislop was "cut" from training with the Dons.

sounds like to me that perhaps the club found out that he was talking to another club, and has been told he will get selected with a certain pick, that the bombers wouldn't feel comfortable beating.

The suggestions that his "off field" issues (whatever they may really be..) is pure gossip and speculation.

i think it reads that he has been caught out talking to another club, or they have found out another club will select him prior to the bombers - and the dons cracked the shits - and (as any club would) kicked a future opposition player out of training with them.

question is - who will select him - if not the dons?

Have changed my attitude towards him, had seen a little bit of him play and seemed to have real potential.

But from what the bomber fans are saying on BF (the majority of them don't seem too unhappy to see him go) he sounds like a bit of a flat track bully. He was a good size in the U18s who dominated the with his attack on the ball against kids, and when he stepped up to senior football and came up against blokes who of an equal size and bigger, his main strength was mostly negated and got alot of injuries because of this playing style. Also has a reputation for losing his rag and looking to square up if he cops one on the field.

So couple this short temper and brawlers instinct, with a weakness for booze and poor attitude to towards keeping out of some of Melbourne's seedier venues, and you have a player who is an injury prone midfielder that hasn't proved he can take the next step (and we aren't exactly short of midfielders), will probably get a fair few suspensions, and who seems to be a back page controversy waiting to happen.

Doesn't really address our needs, bad influence on the younger players, and potentially a PR nightmare! NO THANKS!!!!

Surely we should be looking at young ruckmen and or KPPs with our 4th and 5th round picks anyway...

Essendon are acting overly happily for Tom and there must be an underlying reason.
