ex-school mate.

interested to hear cats supporters thoughts on him.

will he debut this season? will the boost of ottens in the forward line, see him playing out another season in the vfl?

do u see him playing only in the forward line?

Hell should debut. The thing with Lonergan is hes soooo damn skinny. When ive seen him play he does some nice things but needs the extra bulk to take the next step up. If you looked at how many goals hed kicked compared to McCarthy or Playfair on an avg a game, id say hed have them both covered easily.

He did play a bit down the back half towards the end of last season, but i feel it was more due to the large number of talls we had in the VFL and many of them being too one dimensional to go back. But I dont think its something they are grroming for. Hes a genuine goalsquare Full Forward.

Strongly disagree.

In the junior competition Tom played as a hard running marking option (similar to the role that Chris Tarrant plays) and i still maintain that is his best role.

He's got a great footy brain, really knows how to find space and can run all day.

BTW Loris said today that Lonners had added 5kgs to his frame which is nice, still room for 4-5kgs more i'd imagine.

From the pics I've seen of training, he's bulked up a fair bit. Hopefully he'll get a game this year, but will be competing with Playfair for the CHF spot i'd imagine.

Whilst I agree on most points here, another thing I believe is an asset for Tom is his set shot kicking.

During the VFL games in which I managed to catch a glimpse of Tom in, one thing that really had me impressed was his set shot kicking. With this in mind I think it'll be interesting how Bomber, Ken and co. use him as a forward. I for one would love for Tom to have the oppurtunity to be able to put his good kicking skills to use.

The reason i believed this is because despite giving away ots of body weight and strength to his VFL oponents, hes still a very good body on body player, something which would be an asset out of the goal square, also agree with geecat that hes a very good kick for goal.

I think they will use Ottens in the wizz fizz like they hope to use in in the real games.
He should spend most of his time in the forward line, and spending a bit of time as a second ruck.

Lonners is still behind a few in the queue.

Otto, H and Kant are our three first choice key forwards, then you have Lonners, 26 and Nathan.

I would think that as far as key forwards go, he'd be next in line if any of Otto, H and Kingsley were to be injured. Granted he hasn't played AFL yet, but McCarthy is not a good option and Ablett is in his first year and I'd expect him to start on a flank. From what has been said here, he is good body on body, good set shot and is a smart footy player. I don't see why he won't get a game this year with his extra bulk.

I think i read somewhere bomber threw out the challenge to loners at the B&f last year
ie said he wanted him leading out hard next year from ,presumably, full fwd
Im struggling to see h,loners, kingsly and ottens(back up ruck) in the same side
but who knows?

Lonergan has to be given a chance in the Wizz Fizz Cup.The good thing is that he's played both as a forward and defender in the VFL,so he could also be a handy back up in defence.

From what i saw of his defending in the reserves i wasnt impressed at all to be honest. Keep him up forward...

He's leapfrogged Mackie, do you think? Yeh, you're probably right.

Lonners is 197cm, Mackie seems destined for a flank for at least a few years. I think at the moment, their competing for different positions.

I agree.Lonergan can play KPP,but I doubt Mackie could. He's a skinny runt who is best suited to the HFF.
