Tom Lynch Adelaide

Ellis Yolman if developed is certainly a candidate same build as say Goodes could easily play as a third tall in fact it could be the position he is crying out for as I dont think he can play mid and is a little lose to play D

Your stuck in what you are considering a 3rd tall. How can I put this. Think Nick Riewoldt 2014 when he plays high. That is the Tom Lynch role and to get back to your previous post is why he was moved on from St. Kilda as a young player. The Saints wanted a Key Forward not a mobile one and they went and target Walsh that year. It did not work for them.

Now your being silly comparing Tom Lynch to Nick R. Nick plays up the ground and the best defender follows him. Tom will never be met with that compliment as I said Ellis Yoman could handle playing up forward when the teams third if not 4th defender follows him.

I think with the Melbourne offer Adelaide will likely offer a 3rd year. He is in the age bracket for this and has had an injury free year.

I would think so too. He's finally getting some continuity out of himself and staying injury free, and he's playing some very good football as a result. The only reason I can think of that they'd be offering only two years, is they have high hopes for Mitch McGovern. He certainly has a bit more x-factor to his game than Lynch, but nowhere near the running capacity.

Although the AFC has a different list manager now, it would be pretty difficult for the club to explain that they would only give Lynch 2 years when they gave Mackay 4.

Nobody is comparing him to Riewoldt as an overall player. It's the running work that he does that is comparable.

Has Ellis-Yolmen ever played as a forward in his life? He's played all of 12 AFL games, and you think we can just plug him in to Lynch's role (which he isn't fit enough for anyway), and expect the same output? It doesn't matter what defender Lynch is playing on, the fact remains that he's dragging a defender away from what is generally a zonal defence setup, and opening up the forward line, and exhausting that opponent in the process.

The Toump's value has dropped again this year. Could be used in a trade but not a straight swap. Guy was tipped as a top 3 pick and went 4 to us. Has shown some signs and has also had his fair share of injuries.
Wouldn't trade Lynch straight swap for Toump. Lynch is a way better player, Toumpas hasn't proven anything. Could be a bust.

Was a Saints fan and only left because of Rossy Lyon. More than welcome to come back ;)

If I'm Adelaide though I give him the 4 years. One of the most under-rated players in the comp.

I always believed in Lynch and he was a great second tall, but Jenkins shifted him aside and now he has gotten a lot better playing as a half forward who gets plenty of touches around the middle. He adds another dimension to our game and we cant afford to lose him, he is worth 400-500k imo.

Major blunder by Saints. Was one of your only younger players at the time.

If you go back there are more than a few posters on our board who were not too happy with it at the time.

He was playing the Sam Fisher type CHB role in the VFL and absolutely dominated. Then he gets a crack at AFL level and plays as a defensive forward on Dustin Fletcher. Just a total waste of his development.

We got Jack Newnes with the pick for Lynch so a good get on our end but Lynch has turned into a very good goal kicking wing/hff.

Ah ok nice, so still got something out of it. Could have gotten Newnes with another pick though (25, 35).

headache1 I need some panadol! My god I don't mean to be rude but are you just playing ignorant Marty! I'm saying that he plays a freaking high half forward role like Nick Riewoldt does during games, not the whole game, but during... for parts of! Not that he is Nick Riewoldt. Riewoldt has to play deep forward as well because St. Kilda have no consistent good talls! Adelaide have good talls.

You think Lynch plays a 3rd Tall role! He does not. It is not freaking 1995 where you just chuck your FF, CHF and Ruck in the forward line. My oh my! He plays a high center/forward role that links between center and the forward arc. I can explain this to my 7 year old cousin and he gets it. Everyone else here gets it!!!

Yeah sorry he's an absolute gun sitting behind Jenkins and walkers with betts and Douglass we should have the best forward line in the comp yet we are struggling to make the 8. Lynch may leave making him go to a third AFL club but yes he is in our top ten and is not replaceable. Mate take the Rose colored glasses off

In 19 games as half forward link up player, he's averaged 19.2 touches, 7.2 marks, 3.9 I50s, kicked 25 goals (without having a 10 goal game against GWS to pad that number out), and handed off another 26 goals to teammates. I don't think it's publically available, but I'd really like to see his total score involvements number. I'm not sure how anybody could look at that set of stats, and think he's going to be easily replaceable. We need to keep him.

That trade has ended up being one where everybody wins. Richmond got Maric, you guys got Newnes, and we got Lynch.

If Josh Kennedy were to leave the Swans, it'd be his 3rd club too. Would that make him not in Sydney's top 10, and easily replaceable? What a ridiculous argument. The guy didn't get a decent run at the Saints, due to their personnel and where they were as a club at the time. Since coming to Adelaide, Lynch has established himself as a best 22 player, and yes, would be in our top 10 most important due to the role he plays.

And we do have one of the best forward lines in the competition, but there is more to a football side than its forward line. We're currently 4th in terms of total points scored, and I remember reading an article that mentioned we were rated 3rd in the league for offensive efficiency as of Round 17. Our defence on the other hand doesn't have a single player with 100 games of experience in it. We're sitting in the 8, 6 points clear of 9th, and our coach was murdered half way through the season. It's not like it's been a cruisey year for the club.

Genuinely are you under 18? If you are a kid i'd get it. But when others, not just me are telling you. Just because you watch Football does not mean you know Football. He is the #1 player for goal assists in the AFL. #1! I'll take my rose coloured glasses off, when you put a pair of OPSM prescription glasses on.

Barry Hall played for 3 Clubs...
Martin Pike played for 4 Clubs...

I'm saying our team isn't that good we may not even make the finals I like walker betts Douglass and Jenkins in the forward line and would rather them there than Lynch, things need to change at the club if we want to make top 4, will never forget Parkin saying he should have swapped players out after winning a premiership the hawks do it most years. You tell me if you think who out of our top 22 shouldn't be moved on and maybe swapped for an upgrade. Wouldn't have lynch in that list but you may or who else in the forward line would be a better swap.

Pike was verging on an alcoholic which is the reason he was moved on as for hall I think he out stayed his welcome at the swans with his aggression

But yeah I'm pretty dumb, I'm not the one who thinks Lynch is a superstar, come on he is a fair player that is without doubt is replaceable

Why talk about a player going to three clubs when there is absolutely no talk of him leaving or Sydney wanting to get rid of him if you want to quote that we could also say, Jacobs, betts,Judd,Ablett,Tippett, Franklin, sculls,Davis, beams do you want me to continue

And we do not have one of the best forward lines in the comp we may not even make the finals, start realising where we are at.

Okay so your not young, your older i'm going to say in your 50's and stuck in how Football was played in the late 70's, 80's and early 90's.

I did not say he was a superstar. I said he is number, freaking 1. The bees knees of goal assists in the AFL. He is it. THIS IS HUGE! The absolute number 1 high center forward player in the AFL this year. Additionally he is only 24. You however would prefer Douglas (who I love and don't want to bag) in your top 10 over a player who is more valuable STRUCTURALLY. We have other Douglas type players. We don't have another Tom Lynch at our club. We did, his name was Jack Gunston, number #8 in the AFL for goal assists.

Lynch is a good player playing in a non-vital position. He's probably worth somewhere between 2 and 3 years, and I'm not concerned that the club is playing hardball with a 2 year offer, because it leaves more money to spend on a better player in a vital position - if he really wants 3 years, I'm sure that making some concessions in his wage demands will convince the club to add a 3rd year. He's certainly not worth the 4 years that the Demons are allegedly offering.

No shit, because it's a stupid argument to begin with. Remember it's your argument, not mine. Would Lynch be a better player if he wasn't receiving an offer from another team that was tempting him to leave? There is no talk of us wanting to get rid of Lynch, there is talk of another team wanting him. I'm not sure how that makes him a bad player.

Yes, we do. It's about time you start realising that a forward line isn't an entire football team. What happens elsewhere on the ground is also pretty important to your results as a team (shocking ,I know). We are not a top 4 side, and it is not because of our forward line. Our midfield is lacking in both leg speed, and foot skills, and our defence is inexperienced, and too reliant on a couple of players at present. Take care of those areas of deficiency, and our team looks a lot better as a whole.
