Stingrays earn coach's praise
"He [Lynch] just gave us a strong tall across half-forward, and presented all day and controlled the area really well," Yeats said.

"For a kid who's six-foot five, he was prepared to chase tail and put pressure on. He's almost the full package. He's improved a lot.

"You'd be silly if you weren't interested in someone who's six-foot five and had his mobility, stretch, attitude and appetite for the game … you become very excited."

Nice video by NiceCunnington.

My bandwagon is warming up.

Really came on during the champs and has maintained great form which will do his chances no harm. Very high upside. I'm thinking he might go top 20.

Is he new to footy and does he have a basketball background?

From all reports he's coming on in leaps and bounds and dominated on the weekend.

It would be a shock if he wasn't top 20. Don't be surprised if he is the 2nd KPP called out on draft day.

doubt he will be the second called out... Day and Gorringe will definately go in front of him, but if you mean 2nd non gold coast bound KPP then i would have to agree, with Darling, Mcarthy, Cook all around the same range as Lynch IMO

Rate Tom Lynch very highly and think he will go to GC top 15 maybe pick 9 or even 11 if Essendon look to be after a mid. Upside almost as high as Day, and probs ahead of Darling now, but not by much, those are my clear top 3 KPF. Cook is a little behind in a 25-15 range IMO.

I like the risk with this guy - looks like he could develop into a legitimate tall forward.

And with his reach and agility, if he doesnt make it as a forward he could be a pretty good spoiling backman..

Liked what i saw yesterday...

has a good leap and a strong lead. Kicked a 55m goal into the wind in the last quarter.

i think he has elevated himself to be the #1 KPF. Will go top 10!

Very true. His hands aren't as "sticky" as I would like but is certainly a very good grab. And as far as goal kicking goes, He's not a one trick pony with a set shot like you might expect for someone so new to footy. I've seen him kick them on the run inside 50, Dribble it along the ground from the pocket and kick a lovely set shot from 55 into the wind.

His work in traffic is also very impressing. Steps around players like a midfielder sometimes and he's got great vision spotting up a leading target in congested forward lines or loose players on the other side of the pack.

A lot of upside after only his first year of footy!

This is seriously his first year of footy? Bloody hell.

I have't seen much of Day or Darling, but Lynch is far and away the best kpp prospect I've seen this year, and probably last year as well. His agility and flexibility are just breathtaking at times. If he's only a first-year player now, then after a few more years in the game he's going to be very special indeed.

i think he's another one of those players who have obviously been exposed to football casually earlier but have only been playing seriously (ie in TAC cup) for the past year. so not the type who 'converted' from a rival sport.

also heard that he went through a growth spurt this past year, so was basically playing as a midfielder in the past hence the skill, tank and agility but now has the kpp height to work with.

would be more than happy to take him with our first round.

Sorry maybe I should rephrase. He has a lot of up side after his first year of full time footy. It is my understanding his primary interest before this year was basket ball and that Hallahan saw his potential in a game of school footy and dragged him down to the Stingrays.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.;)

Tom played footy as a junior with Sorrento junior footy club.
He played in the same team at Sorrento with Mitch Hallahan.(Who should also be drafted quite high).
The team they played for won 3 maybe 4 flags in a row...from u/14's-u/16's.
They only lost 3 or 4 games during that period.
Best junior team i've seen.

Hope this clears a few things up:thumbsu:

Taller, with a better endurance and higher sprint than expected. Stock rising.

I heard there was an error on the release of sprint times and he was actually one of the slowest off the mark.

But yes height and endurance were very good scores so he's certainly still improved his position.

Can anyone clarify Lynch's sprint scores?
