I have been impressed with Tom Moody's efforts as a commentator. He seems very perceptive and has some very interesting insites into the game as it develops. It's good to hear a new voice!

What does everyone else think?

wouldnt know... people are watching "swordfish" in this household. for now, cricinfo will have to suffice.

give some examples though (infact i even think cricinfo has live audio :) )

Well for one thing he knows a bit about the players - both Australia and England, makes accurate predictions about the the course of the games, seems to be able to read the players minds and assess the state of the game really well.

He has a sense of humour, a quick wit and pleasant enough voice!

I mostly listen to the radio. I was listening a bit to channel nine the other night. Moody seems okay, no worse than any other commentator on that station. As a former Western Australian player he was able to tell us a bit about the conditions and so forth.

A Tom Moody quote: "You would have adrenalin pouring out of your pores." What the hell does this mean?

Tom Moody needs to liven up a fair bit.

Great to just have a new voice in the ch 9 com box.

He sounds a bit dry at times but at least he has played the game within the last 20 years and has some fresh insight. Let this be the beginning of the great clean out.

Moody is great! A bit of freshness into the ABC and Channel 9 commentatry team, knows a lot about both countries and can actually understand him!

He's not too bad.

To be honest, the first time I heard him, I had no idea who it was (as I must have missed the intro thing) and thought it was an Englishman (Ian Botham or someone).

Does anyone know why they've brought him in? Is C9 planning to phase someone out or something?

Purely a guest stint for the summer. The ABC had him for an interview prior to yesterdays ODI and Moody also did the WA v Tasmania PuraCup game the other week. I don't know if Channel 9 have Moody lined up for the rest of the summer, or if they had him during the Perth stint.
