Scandal Tom Silvagni convicted of rape

Not really relevant to my post though, not sure why you quoted me here.
It was in reply to false allegations and how they are treated. Yes they should be treated the same as the actual act as the results can be just as life changing or in worst case life ending. Do you think those that throw these claims out should go unpunished. Also those that commit the crimes need far harder punishment.

Whereabouts did I say that claims shouldn’t be taken seriously?

What I pretty clearly stated was that the volume of false reports is so ****ing minuscule that as an issue it doesn’t even register against actual rapes.

I’d also note this isn’t really the thread for men to complain about false allegations given Toms been found guilty so it’s pretty ****ing on the nose for the blokes to hijack the thread to bitch about an issue that happens about as often as ****ing shark attacks against an issue as common as a cold (whilst obviously being far more extreme)

Also…

The practical reason why we don’t have nearly the same volume of “false accusation” convictions as many of you lads would like is because the justice system isn’t equipped to deal with actual legitimate accusations so they rarely ever lead to any sort of conviction (let alone custodial sentence) so where exactly would one draw the line for “false accusation”? Do we really want more women being discouraged from reporting because not getting a conviction could lead to them getting years in jail?

By that standard Brittany Higgins would be spending Christmas behind bars because her case was tossed and she didn’t follow it up.

I wouldn’t have thought so

This thread is not about you.

How would anyone know what % of accusations are false?

And im not for a second suggesting this incident is a false accusation

You are making my brain hurt 😆

There is really nothing what so ever to support even suggesting that ‘there maybe more to it’ .What does that even mean? . Courts have deliberated on all of the evidence presented and made a clear finding . Rape is rape
I'm sorry? Excuse me?

Have you replied to the wrong person hee?

Careful, you'll be asked to retract this and apologise, again.
I've gotta ask...are you Ok engaging deeply in a discussion about the way men treat women and casual misogyny - whilst having Bailey Smith as your avatar?

Does that make you somewhat uncomfortable at all?

We’ve got plenty of statistics on how many women don’t report sexual assaults and we’ve got plenty on how many are reported but don’t go to investigation/trial/conviction and it’s a lot. Most studies show that the percentage of women who have been sexually assaulted in some way sits between 75 and 90%.

Comparatively a quick google overview suggests the false accusation claim is somewhere between 2 and 10% (settling on 5%) whilst noting that the definition of “false” is a difficult parameter.

So do the math, the best case scenario is 70% of women have been sexually assaulted and of the number that report that (which is far far less than 70%) at worst for the MRA types here 5% of those are false (with a number likely not being maliciously false).

So again, which issue is the more pressing one? And why the **** are we discussing false accusations in a thread about a convicted rapist.

Nope, lets just get the facts straight. The 5% number is the amount of accusations PROVEN to be false, which is extremely difficult to prove.

I'm not saying a lot of accusations are false, but it's so silly when people throw out random dumb surveys and then dont even understand what the survey is saying

Tom was found to have tampered with an Uber receipt to indicate his mate had returned to the house. What a sociopath he was to burn up all semblance of reality of what happened in service of his cover up, and then stand behind his lies without blinking in front of friends and the jury and judge. Duplicity is often easily spotted. The cover up helped bury his case.

His mother had the gall to stare down the victim in court, apparently, rather than her own son. But failed to turn up to hear the victim's 28 minute testimony. Another case of the family trying to deny reality. It's in the family evidently.

But reality can't be escaped. It only hits all the harder after all the effort to evade it.

The other thing is that everyone can spot the deluded, except the deluded. They need the shock to the system to be brought back to reality. It's pathetic as well as cruel what they are doing, and it's all in vain. And they don't yet know it.

Well said mate

1- I thought you weren’t clear on how anyone could have stats on false accusations?
2- no it absolutely is not the number proven false
3- it’s not from a survey so you could have a crack at being MORE wrong but it would take some effort
4- it truly takes low value man to think this is a continuing valuable contribution to a thread about a convicted rapist with a number of women noting their experiences of sexual assault to try and turn it into a symposium on false accusations (even if you think you’re right 5% of false accusations versus 70% of women having been sexually assaulted. Which should be the focus, I’ll give you a hint, it’s the big number not the small one).

So you can keep popping off (incorrectly) about this shit if you want but I’m done.

You shouldn't be okay with it. To use that man to represent your profile when having conversations about respect for women. It doesn't make much sense.

An avatar I've had for 2 years doesn't disqualify me from talking about whatever I want, and it sure doesn't disqualify me from talking about rape. I couldn't give a F what user's avatars are, it's a weird thing to even mention.

If you want to discuss Bailey Smith do it in another thread.
