As far as I know, no we can't - he's still on the list until the first list lodgement after the season ends.Terrible news. Got a little bit emotional watching Tommy have a chat to Bob. What a legendary bloke.
Feels a little too soon to start talking about this but where does this leave us list-wise? Are we allowed to upgrade a rookie?
I feel bad. I'm going to go and have a good hard look at myself.
How do you know? We never saw the best of him. Maybe he would've been a champion, it's a complete unknown. Before he even played a game he'd had enough injuries to be permanently affected by them.Read my post and you'll see that it isn't the point. The point was that the injuries have been good for his career/legacy.

Can't we just put him on the long term injury list for the hamstring? He's clearly injured and i can't imagine that the AFL doctor gets to decide whether it is a long term injury or not.As far as I know, no we can't - he's still on the list until the first list lodgement after the season ends.
I'm not 100% certain, but I believe those on the LTI list have to train/do the bare minimum in order to qualify. Since he's retired, he won't do any of that and is thus ineligible for the LTI list. I could be wrong, but I know other clubs haven't been able to upgrade rookies in place of a retired player, even if they are injured. Can't we just put him on the long term injury list for the hamstring? The herald sun article suggests he might be going into player welfare in the futureHope he stays around the club and help teaches the kids how to mentally deal with injuries and stuff like that.
You might be able to mount an argument that they were good for his legacy if you believe that his playing ability was over stated but saying they have been good for his career is ridiculous. If it wasn't for injuries he'd probably be on 150 games by now and would have at least a couple of decent years left in him

In the end he held up Centre half back for a full year in a prelim final team and that's still more than most that play AFL can say.
I also remember his second game of the big league, he had 18 disposals and took 13 marks, you could just tell he could play.
Key word there is 'maybe''Maybe he would've been a champion', 'we never saw the best of him'.... This is my point ffs. What if we actually did see the best of him??
Comprehension skills at an all-time low around here.
Thanks for your service, must be the unluckiest player in AFL history.
He can hold his head high having delivered a match winning performance vs Melbourne.
Your favourite phrase right thereKey word there is 'maybe'
Those in glass houses...

Is it? I tend to forget most of what I've postedYour favourite phrase right there
Also it's good to see that the majority of posters on the main board, bar 1 or 2 that I want to violently assault, are saying exactly what we are saying. Could have been a great player but ruined by injuries.
