how is his form atm, if JFK eye is still bad then why not crop Hansen for Notte. But Lynch CHF and notte in the goal square leading out. or even move M.Brown to CHF where we drafted him for and play Emac CHB and Bones third tall????

No need to rush him.

Maybe ease him into the side for a couple of games as the season progresses. Preferably against less physical sides.

Although I most definitely agree with the notion of playing Brown forward. Bloody obvious ploy if you ask me.

I think Brown is playing in the backline because there is a belief it is easier on the knees.

Thats what I was assuming too but the fact he was being tried down back in the preseason in 08 before doing his knee has me wondering.

Notte is a natural forward, he runs to the rights spots and has natural goal sense. While he is skinny, he could play as a 3rd tall and give teams fits in my opinion with his excellent marking skills.

If you look at our current structure it has 4 "talls" in Hansen, Lynch, Hunter & McKinley (yes, I know he isnt tall but he plays more as a tall than a small or even a medium).....

I would look at Notte, even this week v a Melbourne (who have a lot of young defenders). I watched him in a pre-season game kick 3 without getting the ball much - he is that sort of player, a natural forward.

yea imo Emac >>> Brown as a CHB is alot more agile imo and seems comftable. so why not play Brown CHF and JFK out of the square(When fit)?? we have seen brown play CHF very well in his Debut game. And at least JFK will go up with 2 strong hands in packs, where hunter goes the chest mark every time

Although i have the feeling they are ready for Glassy to retire so they will want Emac FB and Brown CHB but i would rather him up forward.

Brown, Kennedy, and Notte forward and Schofield or Spangher for 3rd tall defender?

I'd like that a lot.

Any word on his size? The Eagles official website still lists his weight at 71kg, which was his draft weight. Since then, I've read a few reports that suggest he's put on a few extra kilos. If he could get to 80-85kg, he'd be ok.

I wish... I wont hold my breath for a birth any time this year though, next year round 1 Notte will line up at FF put your house on it!

Marks inside 50 will go from 5 a game to 15.

It wouldn't hurt to put Notte in it's not like we are kicking heaps of goals and he is pushing someone out.....:eek::eek:

He's coming off a 4 week knee injury and in his return game only played 2-3 quarters and was noticeably cautious on the field.

He played well, but his current fitness levels are not AFL standard.

How many have seen Tony Notte play? Why does everyone assume he was drafted to play from the goal square?

Why do you ask, you have / haven't? Either way, it's an interesting point about playing out of the square.

I would play him out of the square if the ball is coming in enough. You won't get the ball bouncing off someones hands or chest and out of the 50 if it's him. If the I50 entries dried up I would then move him further up the flanks to get involved in the play, because he has the knack of making things happen when he's around the ball. He was surprisingly good on a wing for Swans against EF last year.

Wether he was drafted to play from the goal square or not we need a tall FF who can actually mark the ball, and when marks it kicks it through the sticks (the middle ones). Notte is the best prospect we have to do that.
