Tigers zone falls back to regain the ball in the defensive half then they slinshot v back at attack.

Lions won the tactical battle v Eagles round1 getting into the face of the Eagles coming out of defense and pushed the zone up so there were no easy passes to uncontested situations. Slippery conditions helped as skills dropped away.

Tigers need to hunt further up the field basically. Especially withRance gone they cant conceed easy possessions and inside 50s as they have.
Agreed

But I think we're saying the same thing basically. I do think Buckley copied the technique from the Eagles who transitioned from defence brilliantly last year. Was the original source the the repeat Hawks? It's as far back as I can go.

The stars alligned in 2017 when all of our players peaked at the right time. We had a system that worked for about 18 months and it masked our list deficiencies. It has been picked apart by coaches and now it looks completely dysfunctional. Losing Rance doesn’t help and Jack + Lynch are trying to find chemistry, but the warning signs were there late last year.

Excellent post here that reflects my thoughts entirely  . A bit like the Crows blew it in 2017 the Tiges threw away a flag in last years prelim and won't get another opportunity this time around.

The problem i feel is that the Tigers were never a highly skilled side, but that didn't matter as their pressure was ferocious. The attack at the ball was constant, in all areas of the ground.
Now the pressure has really dropped off, as evident by only having 30 odd tackles last night, despite having far less of the ball. Without the pressure, their poor skills have become evident again.

Dusty looks like he is content with his career, and now he is happy to relax and collect his big $. He has had one tackle in total in his last three games. That is disgustingly poor.
Martin being yet to lay a tackle so far this year seems very concerning
damning stat- something not right

In round 22, 23 the Qualifying final an the GF in 2017 he laid a total of 5 tackles at an average of 1.25 per game but don't let that get in the way of a good big footy story

We have one as many games as Collingwood, We had a bad night.. It happens and I expect a few more considering we have some decent players unavailable at the moment.

Last year taught me one thing, You can be as dominant as you want all season.. But it only takes a bad half of football and the whole season is for nothing... Referring to the prelim last night.

Collingwood are a great team and like Richmond they had a few bad years while they slowly built up a list that is elite.

I don't know why all these armchair supporters think we had some fluke season and we were always going to crash and burn as majority or qualified football experts, The kind that have actually played the game had tipped us as flag favourites etc..

The next 4 weeks will test us.. But these claims of us having a weak list etc are a joke.

There were alot of times in last night's game where we almost got back to level but a silly mistake would swing the momentum.

Collingwood could get flogged next week and we could win by ten goals.

That's just how unpredictable our game is.. And the reason we love it

Dusty doesn't tackle, is a purely offensive player and weapon only. Problem is if he down from his usual output than the defensive part of his game ( or lack thereof) gets exposed. Doesn't seem like he cares anyway.

Well that just backs up what we said. Martin is not right, maybe physical, maybe it is mental.
But he isn't the player he was 18 months ago, he seems soft and disinterested.

It doesn't back you up in any way at all Wtf

your point adds to earlier

Prelim can be excused due to hime being about 50% fit

clearly something not right- has he always been so poor defensively?

If they lose Riewaldt for 4-6 weeks on top of Rance I describe that as pretty close to a genuine crisis. Two 'spiritual leaders'

Only time will tell.

Rubbish.

They literally only have to be 3-3 when Riewoldt gets back.
Its like people forget they have Grimes, Astbury, Lynch and Caddy.
That's still better than most teams

He's a superstar forward running midfielder he doesn't need to get 11 tackles.

I though pies supporters were meant to be the dumb ones?? ;)

Look at my earlier post- you have one of the shortest injury lists and pies had arguably more talent out
look at WCE- no Gaff, Shepard or NicNat and won flag- no excuses

no- he's a super star mid who has spent more time forward as he's knackered.
He should be doing more than avg 1.25 tackles for past 5 games-even Petracca likely tackles more

They were way below their best against the Pies.... you could argue they have got ahead of themselves.

But Lynch looks a huge win for them even while he is finding fitness. Josh Caddy is hugely important to the Tigers and makes them far more dangerous. Dan Rioli needs to lift. They will be fine.

Who said the last 5 games? Learn how to read properly.

I said in 2017 in round 22, 23 the Qualifying final and the Grand Final he had a total of 5 tackles. The same season he was the greatest ever.

Players still working out a plan without Rance and Houli, these aren’t average players injured, now Jack likely out for a long time.

Caddy we miss also.

The new rules have definately stopped Richmond in it’s tracks but I have faith we will turn it around, going to be tough though.

Amazing the amount of rule changes because of Richmond,Bowden,Richo KB and now the 2017 premiership side.

Let’s beat the system Tiges!

damn AFl changed the rules to stop Toby Greene- typical evryones against us it's not fair I'm going to my room

Tigers are absurdly overrated last year.

Played great footy in the latter half of 2017 then got Geelong (tears free of charge) at the MCG, GWS at the MCG then Adelaide at the MCG. Wouldn't have even made the GF if they had to play a final in Adelaide or Sydney.

Still very much in the mix to make the top 4 again but I think people have realised the hype wasn't justified.

This time last year the Pies were the winners after losing by 43pts. Sure injuries reared again for Pies and they took the game as a positive. Therefore fair to mention Tigers without Jack for second half, and learning how to play without Rance for the first time. Crows also demolished Tiges in GF replay. No excuse for Richmond worst game since 2016, but one goal behind at half time and three behind three quarter time. On relection the way they played the should have been a e furhter behind but were not. God it is Round 2.

So brave for three quarters, the moral victors really.
