Where can we play him? He could be used as a utility like how they use Ted Richards at the swans but I think more of his role is of a tagger. Your Thoughts?

P.S for some weird reason he reminds me of Mark McGough

He looks like McGough and kicks like him (a bit more effective though).

Toovey is a tagger/medium defender by nature. In fact I think he spent most of his junior career at full back. He was used as a tagger on Deledio who played back.

Against Port if Cornes plays back, Toovey might go forward to match him up.

I went to the game on Friday, boy was it scrappy football, but i am glad after bagging Toovey on one of these threads,i am glad he proved me wrong and played reasonably well in the forward line.I thought he was a backman, that's where he played in the nab cup and actaully looked quite uncomfortable in the backline.Oh well if he is getting kicks and kicking goals in the forward line great,we need another target up forward.Hope he kick's 4-5 this week against Port adelaide. Then i will get on the Toovey bandwagon.By the way he does look like magoof.

It's the bulging eyes.

What I can't believe is that Sydney or the Bulldogs didn't pick him up under the father-son rule!

i reckon he should play forward with his kicking style, a bit akward thinking of him kicking while on the run, i dunno, but yea he kicked 3 goals, thats great

Twas quite a weird debut!

Terry Wallets said on Triple M pre-game that he expects someone like Toovey to play on Deledio and he was wise to that.

I'm not sure Malthouse was wise to Wallets being wise to that, but Deledio simply matched up on who he wanted, whilst Tooves kept trying to match up on Deledio.

It effectively made Tooves a bit loose in the forward line and his hard running and pace landed him in some good positions at times, where he capitalised pretty well, bar his first one and he almost kicked a great opportunistic goal.

I'm not sure this can or will happen if he tries to become a permanent forward. If he was kicking 2-3 goals every week, he'll get a designated defender of some repute.

I think nullification is his bag though, whether it be midfield, defence or even tagging creative half-backs. He is scrappy skill wise, but he is committed at the contest and is fast (unlike McGough).

Good on him though. I hope he continues to surprise!

Very happy for the boy, there was a lot of negative thought out there about the boy and its still early days but lets give him time and hope that he becomes a consistent performer down the track:thumbsu:

Well done to the kid but I am far from convinced he will have a long career. He looks like he gives his all but despite his good return his kicking technique will surely let him down(although many said that about johnson)and be a big obstacle if he is to make it.

I thought the other 2 looked far more likely to have a long career even if toovey did win more of the pill.

They called him the possum on mmm. Classic.

While we are on the topic we would have to have the ugliest 22 going around at the moment. With these 3 fine look gentleman added to the team it is one ugly team. If have also said I would prefer a bunch of ugly blokes than pretty boys.
