I was wondering if you guys could get together a list of the 10 best players to play for the Crows since they've joined the league.

No order nessersary, but if you could just focus on games at the Crows (ie Carey is a legend, but not an Adelaide one) that would be great.

Personally, I'm an Eagles fan, and the Crows are a team I've always had a lot of respect for. Your boys entered the league not so long after us and both clubs have produced some great players.

But how does the Crows top 10 stack up against the Eagles top 10 ?
Not intended as a slanging match, more appreciating former (and some cases current) champs.

It shouldn't be too hard, names like Ricciuto, McLeod, Bickley, Modra, Rehn, Jarman, Smart and Hart jump to mind, but I'm an outsider - where do you guys stand on your early day stars like McDermott and McGuiness and where do you rate guys like Simon Goodwin and Tyson Edwards ? etc etc

Ah well, have a go, I'll get an Eagles top 10 going and we can compare if you like :)

Not in order:
Mark Bickley
Nigel Smart
Tony Modra
Shaun Rehn
Ben Hart
John Klug
Darren Jarman
Andrew Mcleod
Mark Ricciuto
Mark Stevens

Honourable mention
Mark Mickan - very good ruckman. B&F first year.
Simon Goodwin - very close to top 10
Matthew Robran - ran around like a headless chook.
David Pittman - never was pathetic. close to top 10
David Marshall - pity we didn't get him younger
Greg Anderson - made all oz with us. despite the mullet!
Tyson Edwards - very consistent, has ability to be regarded higher
Kane Johnson - best still to come, but fine player
Peter Vardy - when on, best half fwd in league at one point.
Scott Welsh - if not for injuries...
Peter Caven - over achieved at AFC
Matthew Clarke - consistent week in week out.
McGuiness - ran his guts out every week.
McDermott - hard nut, not always effective though.

Hall of shame
Allen Bartlett - worst of them all.
Romano Negri
Brendan Logan
Andrew Geddes
Trent Ormand Allen - if only he knew how to play the game.
Adam Ugrinic - should have been a gun.
Randall Bone - so much talent, so little brainpower.
Adam Saliba - lazy ****er.
Ben Marsh
Laurie the loser, sorry angwin.
Lance Picoane - talent, too much attitude
Tom Gilligan - why wasn't he shipwrecked. another lazy ****er.

2. D Jarman
3. McLeod
4. Rehn

What he said. (Although I am not sure about the order)

I can't believe that no one else had Andrew Jarman in their top 10. The bloke was a freak and had the best handball I have ever seen.

McDermott
McGuinness
Smart
Bickley
Rehn
Hart
Modra
Ricciuto
McLeod
D Jarman

Modra and Jarman the only two on this list not to pick up a Club Champion award.

I had it between McDermott and A Jarman as my final selection. Tough call.

Same 10 for me as well.

You can shuffle the top 3 any way you want but they're the best 3.

The order of the rest are pretty right IMO

Certainly an imposing list!! :D

A couple of standouts you've missed though.

David Gallagher - THE absolute footballing nightmare at his best/worst.

Aaron Keating - made Romano Negri look like the complete all-round footballer

Ian Downsborough - one of the early disciples from the Ben Marsh school of courage and co-ordination.

Jim West - did Cornesy draft him as a golf partner?? He never played footy for us and wan't good enough to either.

Apologies to the other duds such as Brodie Atkinson we have overlooked.

=1st. Mark Ricciuto, Andrew McLeod, Darren Jarman
(I'm not game to seperate them)
4. Ben Hart
5. Shaun Rehn
6. Nigel Smart
7. Mark Bickley
8. Tony McGuinness
9. Andrew Jarman
10.Tony Modra

(apologies to Simon Goodwin, Tyson Edwards and Chris Mc Dermott.)

I'm looking foward to seeing who you think are the top ten Eagles BlackJuJu. As someone who has been with an Eagles supporter for ten years I've seen more than my share of Eagles games. Their top ten will make an interesting list. Only one choice for #1 if you ask me though, and that is #30!

I'm going to have a crack at the top 10 for the Eagles. In no particular order.

Ben Cousins
Glen Jakovich
Peter Matera
Dean Kemp
Guy McKenna
John Worsfold
Ashley McIntosh
Chris Mainwaring
Peter Sumich
Chris Lewis

Apologies to Dwayne Lamb

No doubt I have forgotten a few but this list seemed surprisingly easy. The top 7 on my list virtually pick themselves.

Top Ten Adelaide Crows Players ever......

(1) M Ricciuto
(2) A Mcleod
(3) S Rhen
(4) B Hart
(5) D Jarman
(6) C Mcdermott
(7) T Modra
(8) N Smart
(9) M Bickley
(10) A Jarman

D Jarman fell down my list because of his time at the hawks

Mcdermott & Jarman needed to be on the list because they were great players in the early years pre Robert Shaw Days

S Rhen Could have been number 1 by a mile if not for his knee injurys......could have been the best ruck man in 30 years to play AFL .

peace y'all

Heres the Eagles top 10 I posted on the WC board - no real arguments with it so far -

Peter Matera
Glen Jakovich
Dean Kemp
Guy McKenna
Ben Cousins
John Worsfold
Chris Lewis
Ashley McIntosh
Peter Sumich
Chris Mainwaring

Pretty much rolls off the tongue. A few close ones like Brett Heady, Monkey Brennan, Dwayne Lamb, Don Pyke and Drew Banfield but that's probably the top 10.

It's actually the same as Mongs!

So you guys pretty much have the undisputed 8 -

Mark Ricciuto
Andrew McLeod
Darren Jarman
Shaun Rehn
Ben Hart
Nigel Smart
Tony Modra
Mark Bickley

But who are the popular choice out of the players that have come up within top 10 lists to fill the last 2 positions -

Andrew Jarman
Tony McGuinness
Chris McDermott
Tyson Edwards
John Klug
Matthew Robran
Mark Stevens

Jarman and McDermott ?

A great talent and thats not just because of the boots. Because he is a great small backman, good midfielder he probably doesn't get as much time up forward. Would kick 40+ a year. Very balanced and a great club man who doen't push the club for too much cash......a rare trait in modern footy.

You missed Shane Tongerie, Adam Richardson, Robbie Thompson, the Cooks (Sudjai & Tim), Evan Hewitt and Danny Hughes, to name but a few other notables..........

I would also include Scott Hodges - fantastic at SANFL level but hopeless at AFL level despite numerous opportunities.
