Where is Buddy?

Can't recall from too far back but has any other Indigenous Player ever kicked over 100 goals in a season?

Kevin Taylor in the WAFL in the late 70's

The absence of guys like Eddie Fry, Michael Mitchell, Michael Graham and Wilbur Wilson from these lists is confusing to say the least

Probably most of us are referring only to AFL/VFL Players because we are simply more familiar with them. Undoubtedly; there were heaps of WAFL & SANFL Players that would have made our lists had we been fully familiar with them. :thumbsu:

Jeff Farmer should be a walk in into that list. The all time leading indigenous goal kicker.

he was a freak at melbourne. bu he never recaptured that form at freo

SEN must have only been rating AFL players. No other possible reason why Polly Farmer wouldn't be in the top 3.

Kevin Taylor's 102 in 1979 were while playing as a Rover/Forward Pocket IIRC.

Great effort. Kicked a bag in the GF to get the ton as well.

Top 10 Indigenous Players I can remember since 1995:

1. Andrew McLeod
2. Peter Matera
3. Adam Goodes
4. Gavin Wanganeen
5. Michael O'Loughlin
6. Michael Long
7. Nicky Winmar
8. Chris Johnson
9. David Wirrpanda
10. Byron Pickett

Michael O'Loughlin a massive omission in my opinion. Will play 300 games and has kicked over 500 goals. 1995 is when I started watching football. Wanganeen would be 3rd but I didn't see him in his Brownlow year. Winmar and Long would probably be higher, but they were both very good in 1995 though. Don't really remember much of Chris Lewis so I haven't included him.

As good as Byron was, he played most of his best football at North.

Winston Abraham was twice the footballer, played in a premiership, and would go close to being the most skilled player on that list.

Barry Cable was in another stratisphere again.

One of the best pure rovers the game has seen.

1. Andrew McLeod
2. Stephen Michael
3. Micheal Long
4. Michael Graham
5. Gavin Wanganeen
6. Peter Matera
7. Maurice Rioli
8. Adam Goodes
9. Michael O'Loughlin
10. Lance Franklin

Buddy hasn't sustained it for long enough to be any higher yet.

Apologies to Jimmy Krakouer, Greg McAdam, Gilbert McAdam, Derek Kickett, Eddie Fry, Darryl White, Wilbur Wilson and Byron Pickett

This is a strange list.

How Matera is only making it into the top 5 is beyond me. Peter Matera is one the best PLAYERS of the last 20 years, nevermind just aboriginal players. He's only halfcast anyway and I dont really think of him as aboriginal. But if he qualifies, then he tops the list from the last 20 years.

Obviously guys like Polly and Steven Michael are too far back for me to comment on.

Best I have seen play,

1. Phil Krakoeur

this is not biased, why isn't anyone choosing Jeff Farmer? sure the guy might of been an idiot off the field but he still is the record indigenous goal scorer. (Franklin will overtake in a couple of years) He was nicknamed the wizard because he was capable of turning a match on its head. In 2000 against the pies 9 goals in the second half after a 2 touch 1st half. Who could forget that mark he took in 98 when he stood on Garry Lyons head.

Pickett played in 2 (1 with North, 1 with Port), and was a Norm Smith medallist
