+1 mackie. not saying he's terrible, but i can remember some distinctly houlihan-type efforts.
nick stevens is silky but chubby. him being in the two's for this stretch is probably bringing to light his middling out as a player.

He was good at Carey but I didn't think he'd become an A grade midfielder this year.

but not quality enough to get a game at a club that can't win a game? give it up champ, he's a B-grade midfielder, blv me, you musn't understand the game very well.

AG, I generally agree wholeheartedly with your opinions, and you clearly have a great knowledge of the game, but I think that isn't a great call. Swan is a very hard working midfielder. He may not be blessed with the silk of Ablett or Pendlebury, but his disposal isn't too ugly, and usually pretty effective. The fact that he is CONSISTENTLY able to run around off his markers and gather 30-40 touches per match shows the speed that he has. It's not as if he sits behind play threading out handballs, he is penetrating and effective, though perhaps not the most appealing to the eye.

Mooney: put him in a bottom 4 and he would struggle
Mckinley: Has talent but far too inconsistent and just cant hack it in the AFL
priddis: Everyones summed it up already for me
MARK BLAKE (how has knowone mentioned him yet) worst ruckmen in the afl
Kane Cornes: Good tagger, thats it.
Lewis Roberts-thompson: just a hack in defence
Underrated:
Hayden: agreed about the AA comments last year
James McDonald: played over 200 games and is the heart and soul of melbourne
Kade Simpson: great player for the blues and IMO should be held in high esteem
Antoni Grover: Does a good job every week for a player usually shorter then his opponent
Kyle Remiers: Great player for essendon and will be a champ
Also for what its worth, while abblett is truly skilled and a great player, completely overrated to many other players in the AFL and if it wasnt for the one-twos each game his possesions would halve

Andrew Mackie overated! Very important and the biggest engine at Geelong.Underated at Geelong is James Kelly,who never gets due recognition.Has been injured this year but Geelong believed last year he should have been in the squad of 40 before all Australian selection.Was also mentioned by the players at the weekend that his presence along with Ottens was a big influence on there improved form and confidence.And dont let the baby face fool you,he is as hard as nails.

AA squad this year proves once again that Mackie is overrated. Even Cats fans admit he shouldn't be there.

Kelly I suppose you could say is underrated, he's no star but no one really rates him anyway so he's a bit underrated.
Ablett and Selwood overated!I think that what has been overated is the presumtion you possess a brain!

Dale Thomas, yup that is very true. He was meant to be a Collingwood star but so far has become nothing but a sometimes decent half forward flanker. Nothing special.

I don't think Luke Ablett is overrated, has anyone every actually rated him?
Matthew Priddis, yup, can't beleive this guy actually gets a game! Gets cheap handballs and rarely has a major influence on the game.
Daniel Bradshaw, absolute gun but has always been in a shadow hasn't he? He deserves more recognition.
Roger Hayden, underrated yes, should of been AA last year.
hhahahaha would rather Priddis then anyone in ur midfield par Haselby, even then Priddis gets more Clearances, touches, tackles so i dont wont haselby over Priddis afterall.
I know a lot of water has passed under the bridge since you posted this, but IMO these are the players that you definitely got wrong.
Joel Bowden was a star of the RFC for 13 years, notching up 253 games. He held our backline together for the majority of his career, he was just so smart and cool under pressure. One of the easiest lines to throw away these days seems to be "Joel Bowden... just gets cheap uncontested kicks all day". Pfft. Not everyone in the team has to be the one getting the contested possessions, and Bowden played his role beautifully. I definitely think, if anything, he has been an underrated star of the last decade.
Swan's year has been nothing short of class, I'm pretty sure he has had the most effective kicks out of anyone in the league. It's a misconception that he isn't damaging - sides keep letting him run loose and he keeps getting 40 possessions, often at a good efficiency rate sometimes disguised by the occasional clanger.
I know you have your reasons, but I personally dont believe anyone of Jono Brown's calibre is overrated. Purely and simply, a star, and a fantastic leader.
Whilst Jackson has been good this year, his disposal is simply too inconsistent and can't really be considered underrated. Has garnered a lot of praise from Tiger fans this year but he still has to take the next step I feel.
Apart from that, not a bad effort I feel, you've definitely got Tyson Edwards being underrated spot on.

Yeah, I would change Swan and Brown now. I'd probably change Bowden too because your point, that every player doesn't have to win the hard ball, is a valid point.
It's funny how 3 months of football can give you a totally different view on players. I don't even understand why I thought Brown was overrated.
