Del Piero flopped at major tournaments. 3 goals is a poor return for someone of his calibre. Great at club level and probably during qualifiers but cost Italy Euro 2000.

I reckon I could pick an all Italian defence, mate, they had defending down to a fine art throughout the 90s/00s. Nesta & Cannavaro should be in the list, but I picked McGrath because I seen him play live and his body defied the performances he put in every week. Vidic and Sammer would be others I think folk over look. Anyway, yeah, just my personal preferences and some players that I only watched in the Champions League and international competitions before nowadays when we can watch all the leagues.

Robben was immense for Bayern and well worth being on the list. I had Robben in mind when I was picking Bale - but Bale just for his pace edged it for me.

I feel I should have Klose on the list for the strikers as he was a frightengly good finisher for Germany at World Cups and European Championships. I was going to do an honourable mention list, but I'd have been here writing it out all day.

Yeah, always very good for Juve in the Champions League and Serie A. He was very good against France in the World Cup final. I reckon a lot of Italian fans would tell you he was a lot better than he was for the national team as they're so into the small details of the game and tactical side of it.
