I am bored out of my mind at home, so i thought id do a preseason top 50. This is based on how i think these players will perform this year. Here we go.....

50: Ryan O'keefe, Sydney.
A barometer for sydney and a versatile option for Roos. O'keefe has a massive engine and if the swans are to do anything in season '10 he will have to be in All Australian form.

49: Bryce Gibbs, Carlton.
Smooth operator out of the middle for Carlton. With the bigger bodies around him is a class act and one of the best by foot in the comp. Needs a bit more muscle.

48: Darren Jolly, Collingwood.
Could be the main difference between Collingwood making up the numbers or going all the way. In the top 5 ruckmen in the comp.

47: Nick Natanui, West Coast.
The guy is an excitment machine judging by his preseason efforts. Hopefully we see him work in tandem with the best ruckman in the game (Cox). WC fans would be salivating at this prospect.

46: Daniel Rich, Brisbane.
Could be a top 20 player by seasons end. Great skills, decision making and tough.

45: Andrew Swallow, North Melb.
Is on the verge of becming elite and i think will become Norths best midfeilder. With Zeibell at his side will form a great future mid.

44: Sam Fisher, St Kilda.
The leader of the saints backline. Was a standout the last couple of years and can play tall or small.

43: Mark Lecras, West Coast.
Another moving up the list very quickly. Has good hands, is quick on the lead and is a great shot on goal. Could play a bit more midfield this year for the eagles.

42: Daniel Kerr, West Coast.
Has been out of form and held back by injuries lately. Needs to get back to his form of 3 years ago. Talented and hard working in the midfield.

41: Patrick Dangerfield, Adelaide.
I was tossing up wheather to put this guy or Zeibell in. Dangerfield won out as i beleive this is his year to step up. Adelaide have a few good young mids and this guy could be the best. Tough and skillful.

Holy shit. Is this the biggest coincidence on BF ever?

Maybe...yours looks much better too!! I have decided to do mine counting down. Will be interesting to compare at the end. Dont worry, i have mine written down already....:thumbsu:

40: Shaun Higgens, Western Bulldogs.
A star in the making, perhaps already. Higgens has all the goods to become a top 10 player in the game. Great skills, awareness and an ability to find the goals.

39: Cyril Rioli, Hawthorn.
If OP doesn't strike him down for half the season, i believe this will be his breakout year. Exciting, hard working and with an ability to make something happen out of nothing.

38: Brad Sewell, Hawthorn.
A bulldog in close, Sewell loves the in close contested footy. Has turned himself into a gun midfielder after starting as a back pocket tagger.

37: Mitch Clark, Brisbane.
Moved to the ruck last year, showing why he was a high draft pick. Mobile, great hands and finds the footy.

36: Alan Didak, Collingwood.
Can take the game by the scruff of the neck. Brilliant goalsneak and not a bad mid either. Knows how to find the footy and be damaging. One downer on his game is consistancy.

35: Brendan Fevola, Brisbane.
The dominant FF of the league for the past few years. Dont know if he will be as effective at Brisbane, but will still kick around 70 goals IMO.

34: Paul Chapman, Geelong.
Is getting on in years but still one of the premier half forward/mids in the game. Showed this in the GF last year. Tough and with the ability to kick multiple goals.

33: Marc Murphy, Carlton.
Up and coming midfielder. Ball magnet who is improving all the time. Some may argue that Gibbs is better but i like the fact this guy can hold his own against some of the bigger bodies.

32: Jason Porplyzia, Adelaide.
Could be the year Porps steps up and becomes the leader of the crows forward line. With him, Tippet, Walker and Dangerfield the forward line has a bright future.

31: Aaron Sandilands, Fremantle.
Could become the most influential ruck in the game this year. Huge body and pretty good skills for a guy of his size.

18: B. Hall

17.4 from 3 games
gotts be top ten at least

This has gotta be a joke. Has never been in anyones top 30 players in the AFL in pre-season ratings. Stays close to goal and has kicked over 75 goals only once in a season playing in a powerhouse Sydney side.

Just because he kicks a bagful of NAB cup goals means nothing. Just like when Carlton won it and finished last, the NAB cup means jack squat

Very very impressive, and a realistic balanced list. Surprising considering every time i see one of these it is littered with players from that persons club who probably shouldnt be there...

Just feel that Brian Lake may be a bit high but other than that great job!!

Yeah i think Lake will have a great year and will become THE premier KPB in the comp-if he isnt already. Its harder than people think to do a top 50!

Great job, one of the best efforts I've seen. Personally I think you've got Deledio way too high at 25 and I rate Chapman a lot better than 34, apart from that it's excellent. Good move putting Natanui in. Of the guys you've listed as unlucky the only one I'd say as a definite would be Enright.

I think chappy is a gun but wont be in the top 30 this year. has become slightly injury prone lately. Deledio would be a champion in a good side. I nearly didnt put Natanui in, but he is very impressive. Cross or Enright would have been next in line, along with Roughead!

how is Burgoyne not in a top 50 i mean how does a player that doesnt get much media attension that isnt considered a top 50 player just put himself on the victorian market and start the bidding at 500k a year

It is a prediction list. He has had a shit pre season. I for one hope he gets plenty of game time and gets back to his best. If he does he is top25 material.

your opinions on colon sylvia, joel corey and luke ball?

Yeah it is pretty hard to fit everyone in. And it is a prediction list of who i think will have a good year.

Corey could slot in to the bottom ten very easily, and i have prob just forgotten to put him in the unlucky list.

As for sylvia, could have a great year. has all the attributes-good skills, hard- but i just think other young players stand out more.

Luke Ball may also shine in the pies midfield. But i have Selwood, Mitchell, Watson, Sewell, Boyd etc playing his position (inside mid) better. And he has yet to prove he can get back to the form he had 3 or 4 years ago (despite his GF performance).

Nothing against those players.
