Top five most important players

So, I had a debate with a couple of Dees supporting mates about who our top five most important players are - as in, if you had to put five names in a 'do not trade under any circumstances' basket, who would they be?

We all had Hogan, Petracca and Viney in our top five, but some of the other names varied.

FWIW, here's my top five:

Agree with all yours bar one, TMac, for as much as i give him shit about his disposal i would still be worried about our backline if he went down.

1) Gawn
(insert gap)

2) Hogan
(insert slightly bigger gap)


3) TMac
4) Viney
5) Oliver

I also wouldnt trade Nathan Jones under any circumstance either because he has been our ultimate warrior. Kinda falls into a category all of his own.

Hogan - obviously will be our leading goalkicker for years to come
Petracca - the ceiling is high. Too scared to find out how high if he was somewhere else
Gawn - guys like him don't grow on trees
Viney - heart and soul of the club
Watts - like Viney, but with baggage

I also didn't include Jones because it's a given he's going nowhere.

I'd have probably a dozen or so players ahead of Jetta as well, but the thread is asking for the 5 most important players. If Jetta goes down, I'm not sure who we have who can shut down the oppositions dangerous small crumbing forwards? That might change if Hibberd comes in, but we really don't have anyone else who can play that role anywhere near as well as Jetta. Hogan will become one of our most important players, however we have had a couple of our best wins without him in the last season or two. Same with Petracca. Sure, no way I'd trade him as he has huge upside. But no way is he in our top 5 most important players.

At the moment probably Hogan, Gawn, Viney, WATTSY and TMAC.

FWIW I think Brayshaw copped a few too many head knocks in 2016, but I can't wait to see him next year. Not sure he'll be as good as Oliver or Petracca but I don't think he'll be too far off either.

Not a Demon supporter but I would think it's Hogan/Gawn/Viney/Petracca/McDonald.

Hunt is going to be super important next season with his dash out the back.

Surprised by the lack of love for Jones. I think we take him for granted a lot, he really brings other players into the game. Super consistent to the point where we almost look past his usual 27 touches a game.

We've been blessed by the fact he's played 97 games in a row. Take him away and you'll notice a huge difference. Still our number 1 leader and one of our few experienced players and a real clubman, and they don't grow on trees.

He's been top 5 in our B and F for like what 7 years in a row now or something? Pretty important IMO.
