I know he has had a great season however still looks to be a young boy playing a mans game. looked like he was going to cry after hodge hit him in the face and then offered meek resistance when hodge started to wrestle him and showed him who is boss. Toughen up son and get some mongrel in ya and dont be pushed around because at the moment opposition see you as a mummys boy.

Haha. I don't understand why some people think that players need to beat up other players to be good footballers. Lids has been one of our best players this season, I'm happy enough to take what he has given. If someone lays into him or one of his teammates and he's around, I'm sure he'll give them a shove.

I'd guess the opposition see him as a pretty ****ing dangerous player, not a mummy's boy.

WTF ? no he didnt :thumbsd:

In fact he had the look that he was pissed off at Hodge getting in a cheap shot.

I thought it was good that he let Hodge know he didnt appreciate it, he could of just copped it like you said but that shows to me he doesnt have any mongrel in him.

So Hodge won the wrestle  Hodge is a bit more seasoned than lids.

Using a CoggaRules quote, You're an imbecile :thumbsu:

Who cares?

Deledio will be a fantastic footballer, dosent need to be able to beat the shit out of Luke Hodge to let that happen.

As our team grows and blossoms, things like that will be rarer. In 3-5 years time, if somebody does that to Deledio, half the team will hopefully fly the flag for him. :thumbsu:

If he was as weak as you say he is, he would've just copped the hit and not retaliated. He got in a wrestle to show that he's not gonna cop that.
I'd much prefer him to have a wrestle and risk a fine than just king hit blokes to show that he's tough.

LMAO at trolling your own board!

As already stated, he did exactly what was required after the cheap shot by Splodge. Has taken the step up this year we were all worried he wouldn't. Again...LOL@ this thread.

doesnt have to beat him up just offer more resistance. you cant see the petty boy image in him, you guys must be blind. wonder what conners would have done in that situation. Its all about perception boyz. Dont shoot me down for a difference of opinion!!!!

Yeah, come on Lids - you're 25, had 7 pre-seasons - use that massive bulk of yours and give it back. Hmmm... As for Hodge, he loves hitting blokes when they're not looking. Cheap shot artist - especially when they're getting done (refer last year's final V the Roos).

With you on this one.

why start a fight when we are winning? hodge only hit him because he was frustrated that lids was towelling him up. he didnt need to prove himself tough by instigating a fight, he was killing hodge on the field.

unlike hawthorn a few years ago we dont need to "draw a line in the sand" and go the knuckle. our young players are starting to let their football do the talking not the fists or wrestling. but good on lids for letting Hodge know that crap wont fly. its a good sign that our players are getting under the skin of the opposition when they start throwing cheap shots.

leave the niggling and aggrevation to blokes like Jacko and the players whose job it is to do that and leave the onfield domination to blokes like lids cotch etc. the flag will be flown when necessary by the necessary players. in saying that however when the time comes for a certain player to fly the flag regardless of who they are then go for it.

I've got an idea. Why don't you let me give you an unexpected forcefull elbow to the chops and let's see how you react you idiot.

Worst troll ever.

You could see it happening couldn't you...

We got on top and withstood some challenges and the Dawks players started getting shirty.
Hodge has always had a packet of Samboys on his shoulder for some reason and Buddy has well and truly caught the disease.

Admire him greatly as a player but he struts around like he thinks he IS Dermott with the famous No: 23 on his back.
Was it in the last qtr when he took a mark on a quick lead and had plenty of time to stop or swerve but he made a point of running straight into Cartledge well after completing the mark.
WTF was the point of that?

I shouldn't complain I guess because of his immense ability but he aint ever going to be liked by opposition supporters like say Richo is.

Deledio is the strongest at the club atr 21 years of age.

In 2 years nobody will be able to mess with him

Until then he IS just a boy.

"our young players are starting to let their football do the talking not the fists or wrestling."

Not particularly religious but AMEN to that brother!!! Dawks are out of control with reports/suspensions etc. Almost as bad as Freo. What club needs that? Hodge got his.

As for the Tigers standing up when needed, anyone recall Round 1 against Carlscum? Hartlett copped it as I recall.

He showed he didnt like it and fair enough. So he got outwrestled by Hodge. Hodge isnt exactly Pettifer. Deledio is still a kid

He puts his head over it when required and doesnt back out of contests when he is open.

I think it was the Brisbane game when he got cleaned up, came off, came back on and took a mark running with the flight late in the game.

No problems with toughness there. Ridiculous thread.

I'll shoot you down for this, fannawigger.

WTF, he already is.
And any call that he is soft have a look at the courageous things he does week in and week out.
Sniping does not make anyone tough.
At the end of the day it is the player that gets up after an gutless elbow to the face or plays 2 weeks after breaking their hand or backs into a pack while taking a mark with no regard for their own safety that is tough and an example to all.
Does that sound like anyone to you?????

Jacks cousin Nick took a couple of year to find a little bit of mongrel in him. So give him a chance to get there. And anyway most of the time he's way in front of the pack runnign with the ball.
