Perhaps not let blokes that just won a flag leave and don't re-sign cr@p players and actually have a dip at improving not standing still.

But hey all you blokes seem to be accepting we won a flag so who cares let's just do glory be all and obviously we will improve

You'd be the bloke who more emphatically than anyone who wrote our season off after the Freo game???

Why write off our trade period when it's barely half way gone?

Only a fool doesn't learn from past mistakes - you aren't a fool I think.

So maybe give the club a chance and wait until the end of next week??

Adams does have serious and public family reasons that would make being in another state hard for him.
Yes I know that, it was more a general comment that I don't believe every player citing personal/family reasons is being honest. It's just the go to statement if they don't like the way things are going and want out.

I can with him and highlighted it as the downside of drafting him before we even did. Excited me as a footballer but had a tonne of baggage since his brothers death. Very annoyed he's doing it and would hope it's not the offer of huge money.

Maybe on a bright side his foot continues to plague him and we dodged a bullet. Let's hope both clubs show enough interest and we determine where in WA he plays.

His brother is alive and tracking well after his injury.

Joking right? Wouldn't even be playing AFL if it wasn't for the dogs.
This is just blatantly incorrect.
Please stop.

We know very little about Marcus's situation at the moment so I don't think we should be bagging him just yet. Don't forget about his relationship with his brother and it was highlighted even before he was drafted that it would be a difficult thing for them to be separated.
This. ^
The club was fully aware of Marcus' situation pre-draft.
We turned a late 2nd round pick into a valuable asset (either in Marcus himself or whatever we get for him). That doesn't always happen.
The club knows what they're doing.

It's quite possible he is going for personal reasons. Seems a great kid and lost his brother young. I take this report in good faith and hope we get good value for him and keep Hamling. If Griffgate taught me anything it's that we're in good hands and our club won't be cannon fodder

This brother is disabled. Unless there is another brother.

I'd love to know how Cloke is a dickhead?
I'd was probably a bit hasty, an assumption more than a fact. He projects a good image but I just see him being a bit of a dickhead off the field. Just my opinion, probably expressed it a bit too forthright.

Marcus is in his first year. His first year. He cannot be paid more in his second (other than match fees) even if West Coast or Freo want to. This isn't about money, it's about family. The decision to request a trade away from a premiership team where he is best 22 would not have been taken lightly. Let's remember that although this bloody sucks for our football club, we knew his family stuff before we drafted him.
There's nothing requiring him to stay in Melbourne, if we don't receive adequate compensation for him, we can hang onto him and he can sit it out in Perth for a year.

There's no stopping Freo stumping up 500k a year for the 2nd-4th years of a nice new contract though...

Lads

Im in contact with Marcus's cousin who will likely stay off the board for a while I'd imagine.

Adams missed the GF because we delayed his surgery to the week leading up to the GF and then we told him to stay at home and not attend the G.

He's had to have his finger re-done again as that was botched. He's not coped away from his family as well as he'd hoped. This is life, not life and death.

The club have known for a long time and we've planned around him possibly going back. It's all very mutual and Marcus has been completely transparent.

Take it easy on Marcus and lets see how it all unfolds. He played well for us in a Premiership year. Lets try and get a good deal done and move on.

Unless he turns his phone off and goes pigshooting, Im right behind him.

If people think re-signing the Sh!t footballers players we have and Cloke and losing Adams,Hamling, Stevens and co is acceptable even from a bottom 4 team then I'm not the fool mate.

I did say I hope next week changes it but if we ended up with this conclusion and from what I'm hearing it's how we will it's embarrassing.

But hey let's all continue to circle jerk and pretend this isn't a bad outcome. We have been brilliant and had the whip hand to improve and SO FAR we have farked it.

Again as I said let's hope next week makes it clearer

Too many players using this as a reason though . They can't all have family issues/mental health issues. Sadly it detracts from the ones who actually do have issues.
I'm not in a position to know/judge whether Adams is 'one who actually does have issues'. I don't know enough about anyone's personal history. That's why I said I won't want to have a go.

Since when do you rate Stevens?
Hrovat's going too.

Honestly, this is not bad news at all. Adams heads to freo, so hammer is less likely to get a regular game there and more likely to get one with us- I reckon this will push hammer into staying. We then have much more power in Adams negotiations due to his contract status. We'll be properly compensated for him. We wouldn't have been properly compensated for hammer.

Go easy on Adams. We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. To all the people trashing him for leaving one year into his first contract, please refrain unless you're willing to say the same things about tom boyd.

If a player signs 2yr deal, 300k first year, 150k 2nd year. Leaves after 1 yr, shouldn't they be forced to hand back at least part of their 1st year contract??

Surely not, but it would be factored in to the trade compensation you could demand.

If a player is $500k / year quality but because of front ended contracts would be on only $100k for the coming year, then you would need to be more heavily compensated to part with them.

Not identical with Adams but somewhat similar in that his base salary for 2017 is very low, and so it's not a large financial cost to have him sit idle on the list for a year. If he was on $500k we would be more keen to offload and effectively "re-deploy" the capital.

I love how you keep having to bring up the resigning of Jong and keep calling him ****. You would of thought after you embarrassed yourself with your dickson is soft call you would tone it done a little.
