Re: Lions Drafting Discussion 2010.

Hear me, lads.

Sherman + 3rd rounder for a 1st rounder?

That way we're a good chance in getting Harper.

No one with any brains would trade a first round draft pick for sherman and a 3rd round pick.

Axel, Lionshine and others, please read this. Please.

Lol that's class. Number 1 is the best.

A bit off topic, but 'On the Couch' last night, Hirdy was going about we sacrificed youth, and that we gave up picks 12 and 27, didn't we draft Bartlett with 27?

Yeah, he probably got it mixed up with pick 28 which was used to get Duncan.

Re: Lions Drafting Discussion 2010.

sherman would be good at west coast i think he would be very well suited to subiaco and can play small forward like worsfold mentioned in the above article

and a change of scenery could do him good but i highly doubt they would do what axel suggested

Re: Lions Drafting Discussion 2010.

If what Aker says about Shermo needing to feel wanted is true (and I suspect he's right), I hope the poor guy isn't reading this thread.

At the end of the day, proposing these trade scenarios online seems silly to me. What ever the decision makers do, they do.

Re: Lions Drafting Discussion 2010.

worst...trade...ever...

Cox is good for another 2 years, while Leuenberger continues to improve. Clark
has shown he can't be a back up and needs to be the one and
only ruckman. Leuey has more upside to his game. An upgrade in pick and Cox for 2 years is the bonus.

Amazing how people draw such major conclusions from such small samples of data.

Clark isn't going anywhere.

Well I can only go off small samples as both are young ruckman who have had a history of injury and both have played their best football when being the sole/main ruckman in the Lions team ;)

Care to share your minor conclusions from large samples of data that your privy to TBD???

The only time we'll have substantial data is when we stfu and give them a chance to work these issues out.

I swear some people here would have called for Jonathan Brown to be traded after his first game.

Some major short term memory issues here too... Brisbane supporters wanting to decrease our ruck depth... good lord. Where have they been the past 3-4 years.

Re: Lions Drafting Discussion 2010.

Just why would you trade someone like Clark, young and can play many positions, for an aging ruckman who is now clearly past it. Even Cox would be 2nd ruckman to Bergs next year. Silly idea. Y don't we just trade Rich for Ben Cousins while we are at it.

Re: Lions Drafting Discussion 2010.

Hope it's a quiet trade table this year, only trade i would like to see is Selwood to the eagles for a late draft pick, he's wasted at the lions and could use a second chance where else. I worry for Power and Johnson but this time of year sucks because cutting players for the sack of it must be like passing razor blades. Hoping the lions make full use of the mature age rookie system in a diluted draft.

Read above, my main aim was to get picks 3 & 4 in this years draft...Cox would just be the bonus to teach Leuey. Read next time before you jump in 

Picks 4 and 6, but yes it'd be an interesting strategy. Clark would be one of the few players we have that could be used to pull it off.

Yep, picks 4 & 6 :thumbsu:

Look, love Clark, no one was cheering as loudly as me when he had his breakout year in 2009 - but his stocks for one reason or another have dropped and if we can manage to persuade WC to trade Cox and gain their pick 4/6 then it'd be a good deal in my opinion.

Leuey will be a star in a couple of years and he'd expect 70%+ game time as the better ruckman, leaving the 2nd ruck with 30% ruck time and the rest spent resting in the forward line or roaming around the ground (which Clark is more than capable of).

As much as we love Clark; for this 30%, would you not want to gain pick 4/6 and the possibility of recruiting a Franklin???

To trade Clark would be excellent business practice in my view ;)

On a sad note, what would we get for Brennan if he goes to the GC :(
