Are we not saying the same thing?

I still think we are better off doing this deal in the long run, I just think we could have asked for maybe a late first round pick to balence out the Luke Brown part of the deal.

The advantages of having Crouch make the deal a winner.

I think we would have preferred to give up the bock compo if we had secured it, rather than the Davis one.

I heard that Melbourne put in a deal better than ours, that would've forced us to receive a bit less in order to get it over the line.

I think we'd be wanting to package #24 with Maric to get Richmond's compo pick (Tambling). Id be highly surprised if we werent trying to get back higher into the first round after giving ours away to GWS.

You do realise that would be a massive reaming if that were to happen, I'm pretty sure that Bock compo pick is a band 3 end of first round pick, if other clubs use theirs it could slip out to pick 20 or 21 which would mean that we are trading Maric and pick 24 this year for a pick anywhere from 19-21 next year.

Really think we should package pick 24 and Armstrong for a better first round pick, hopefully in the mid teens, and then see if we can package that with Maric trade for a higher pick.

If we can somehow snag a top 6 pick this year, we will be well on our way to being premiership contenders in 2014. No point getting 1 elite midfielders, with no other elite players around them.

Just from a Richmond perspective, we have clearly stated that we are not going to use our first round draft picks on Maric. This includes both our Bock comp and our ND. I don't think a good sweetener of draft picks on your side will get it done either.

I did hear a trade rumor through TWR this afternoon, which will probably upset you.

Graham, Thursfield and Connors for Maric + Picks.
I'm not implying that it will happen, just heard it.

There is always the chance that we can take him in the PSD too.

You mean the same rumour that had Sloane going to essendon for Hooker?!

Some noob ringing up and putting his thoughts forward is not a legitimate rumour.

Maric has made no indication that he will enter the PSD. Even if he did, Port would take him before you guys did anyway; assuming they strike a deal for Ebert.

I could be wrong, but did I not hear that Maric would be happy to stay if we couldn't get a trade for him?

While this is true. Once you have an elite player in the middle that player automatically makes everyone else around him better. Although if we don't get a high pick this year we should get a top 10 pick next year and by all accounts the draft is chockers of talent so we should get another near elite player then also.

Adelaide Crows List Manager David Noble on the trades done on Gunston and Crouch

If Tippett does go (highly doubtful) I wonder if a deal could be done to get Lycett from WC?

Not for me thanks. I know I'm in the minority on this board but I do not want Lycett. Not his fault - WCE told Peel not to play him in the ruck for the majority of this season so they could protect him. Sounds like a lot of development still needed. If Tip goes (which I totally expect him not to) Lycett is not a ready made replacement.

He also said that he expected the Maric trade to be completed before the week-end.

That's tomorrow in anybody's books isn't it??

He had mentioned earlier about SA boys wanting to come home. Nason wouldn't excite, but Edwards might.

Or will he extract the compo pick out of Richmond.

I'll say this for Noble - he always leaves you with a little but not enough to complete the jigsaw.

Unlike Rendell, who'd post the whole jigsaw out to you! :D

That might be why Noble has been doing all the interviews since trade week started. Too nervous that Rendell will spill the beans on everything

Spot on. Leave Rendell for the post mortem....

I can not wait to hear his thoughts on Crouch........

Shane Edwards doesn't excite at all. A consistent ball-burner. I'd try and work Connors into the deal.

I think it will sound something like this...

does anyone think it would be a good idea to go after collingwood players like Goldsack, toovey or Macaffer.

Awesome news about Crouch/Brown.

Let me see, at the currant time, we are set to have 6 vacancies on our list, and that's before we've delisted anyone.

Moran/Stevens retired
Davis defected
Gunston/Maric/Armstrong traded/to be traded

At the moment we have one of those spots filled by Brown and two more to be filled by Wright/Reily.

That leaves 3 sopts.

With the club unlikely to want to go too deep into a shallow draft and delistings to at least two of the five uncontracted players (Symes, Young, Craig, Cook, Sellar) likely, who do you think the club will go after to fill the vacant spots on the list?

I personaly think that Symes, Young and Craig will be given one year deals and the other two given the boot.

At the moment, the names I've read the Crows are going after are possibly Brad Ebert, Tom Lynch, Brett Renouf and Josh Jenkins

Edit ~ I'm assuming Crouch will just be put on the rookie list for next year? Considering he can't play.
