I think the Ivan Maric trade is getting held up in case Kurt Tippett gets traded bt Brisbane.

Channel 7 reported tonight that if Brisbane get a top 10 pick from the Mitch Clarke trade with freo/west coast and now maybe melbourne a trade is likly to happen.

Iim not saying that's the entire trade but they key parts to it. Lets see what happens now...

I'll say this for Noble - he always leaves you with a little but not enough to complete the jigsaw.

Good old Matty...he is always great value! He is probably someone that you want to talk to when its all said and done to get his opinion but he is not much of a bullshit artist while you are still negotiating your way through and keeping things under warp! He is an open book in these things. Noble is much more robust operator.

Neither Melbourne, Freo or West Coast have a top 10 pick. How would they end up with one from a Clark trade? GWS would have to be involved.

There is a few I'd like to have a look at but I'm not sure if we have the currency yet - maybe we need to get the Armstrong and or Maric deals done first...

I don't know what we'd need to give up (a lot - more than we have) but there has been reasonably persistent rumours this week that Cooney wants to come back to SA.

Howard looks like a chance.

Jack Redden - but that would probably mean dealing with a Tippett trade (I refuse to believe this will happen).

Do you mean Zac Clarke? Dead set refused to leave Fremantle for any offer (despite arguably being third in line as Freo ruck, and from what I remember, not being Western Australian)

If push came to shove to make the deal work, I think Melbourne will move their compo deal and then that will get on traded to us. From all accounts, the deal Melbourne have given to Mitch Clarke is too good to turn down, even for someone homesick.

Just thinking outside the box, I wonder if GWS would trade Chad Wingard for that Melbourne compo deal and pick 24 we (hypothedically) may get from Brisbane via Melbourne. Or pick 5 so we can grab him before Port Power.

His manager said the deal Melbourne is offering is very hard not to at least consider, plenty to come from that deal yet.

Very low chance of that occouring. He married a geelong girl last year and by all accounts is very happy in sleepy hollow.

Yeah I realize he's from WA. Heard Rehny the other day saying Mitch is such an athlete he could play position. I thought if he would consider Melbourne he may Adelaide too.

Interesting article in the Age dealing with various things including those trades in which we're involved.

This is the part that affects us:

"Brisbane Lions and Adelaide met yesterday, with the Crows reaffirming they intended to keep key forward Kurt Tippett, but making an ambit claim for talented South Australian youngsters Jack Redden and Jared Polec.

The Lions dismissed the approach.

Another out-of-contract Saint, Tom Lynch, a first-round draft selection, wants to move to Adelaide, with the Crows and Saints negotiating a deal. St Kilda is only interested in trading for draft picks - wanting a second round draft selection for Lynch - and not players due to its tight salary cap.

The Saints have not received offers for the likes of Jason Gram, Farren Ray or Zac Dawson, who they put on the trading block earlier this week.

The Crows, in contrast, have lost several players and are keen to trade for players rather than draft picks. That has meant Richmond and Sydney have had to review their offers for Ivan Maric and Tony Armstrong respectively.

The likelihood is that the Tigers will talk today about players that might be exchanged for Maric. To date, they have offered only their second pick (No. 37).

Would Sydney pay their 2nd rounder (dunno the number but given where they finished it would have to be mid 30s?) for Armstrong, which we would then give to St Kilda for Lynch?

Or do we simply give St Kilda one of our Hawk/Gunston picks (not 24).

I'd be happier if 24 was used for Howard.

Maric deal looks a bit more difficult at present, unless the Tigers budge on compo pick.

If we got Polec and Redden for Tippett it should be done. Absolute best we could get would be Polec + 8 (or more likely a pick 10-15ish from their Clark trade). I'm not sure I'd do Polec + anything >8?
