Channel 9 just proposed this trade was in the works:

Eccles and D. Gallagher for Nelson and Massie

While I didn't really want to lose Eccles, I don't particularly mind this trade as it fits our needs well. And the best part about it is D. Gallagher leaves the club!!

Sorry Dave, you seem like a nice bloke and a 'reasonable' player but I for one am happy to see the back of you.

I would definitely go ahead with this trade. Whilst Eccles is class act, he has been a bit injury prone & would probably head home eventually. To involve D Gallagher in a trade is a bonus. Never questioned his ability to find the ball, but certainly has problems with his decision making.

Does anyone know the age of Massie, as he would be yet to reach his potential. He has looked like a handy player in the games I have seen. Nelson lacks a bit of pace, but could be a handy replacement for Johnson (if he leaves as part of the Holland deal) as a run-with player / HB flanker. Thought he was playing well for the Blues a couple of years ago, but seems to be out of favour with Brittain.

And Gags....what can you say? :D :D :D

That youre evil :D :D

I bloody hope this trade goes ahead.

As I see it...

Massie is still young, Eccles will prospor with no injuries and being at Home in Victoria.

Nelson and D Gallacher will be playing Alot of VFL and SANFL next yr

PLZ MAKE THIS TRADE GO AHEAD!

Massie / Nelson

Massie is 21
Nelson is 24

I can remember thinking 2 year ago that Massie had potental and geeez, I dont like to admit it; but I thought the same about D Gallagher...... DOH!!

If this trade goes ahead Carlton need their collective heads read.
Gallagher can not, i repeat can not play football.
Eccles is injury prone (but is still 100 times better than Gallagher)
Massie does show promise and Nelson well is up and down but still is 1000 times better than Gallagher!!!
Summing up 1 useless player (who will be delisted anyway) and an injury prone player for a couple of reasonable prospects.

What is his claim to fame?
Hope he hasnt got one eye:D

Average footballer at best.....midfielder/half back flanker....not really all that flash. Has been on the Carlton list since 96 yet hasnt really been a regular contributor to the side.

May do alright at Adelaide (if he comes) but i dont think he is up to AFL level

Where to now??

Well, where to now for the Crows?? The Holland has fallen through and I don't like our chances of securing a forward of note with a day and a half left in the trading period.

I've posted something similar elsewhere, but I'll repeat myself, I think it's best now that we go with our younger forwards in McGregor, Perrie and even young Angwin next year, with hopefully Welshy and Bodey around the place as well. Hardly imposing I know but I don't think we have any choice.

I reckon it's gonna be a big risk to play Stevens at CHF all year, (though it'd give us the best chance of winning games) unless Hewitt really steps up and learns how to play CHB. He did it a few times towards the end of the year but I wouldn't trust him on a consistent basis.

I don't know how we'll go next year, our forward line will certainly be looking bare, though in good shape for the future, with these younger players getting more responsibility and game time. If we can snare Pavlich the year after I think we'll be fine in the long run, with a reasonably young and talented team, but 2002, at this stage, is looking like being a mediocre season unless something drastic happens. :(

Vardy

Watching Vardy in action where he did play well this year on a tape or two. I suddenly realised how good a crumber he really was : Carlton game and Port game :;)

If he does decide to go we are really gonna have to come up with a miracle to have a competetive forward line next year

Schell / Fitzgerald will probably fall thru....There must be emphasis on draft picks given that our tradin is fadin:(
