not sure if this has been mentioned but i believe the club is in talks with Melbourne FC to swap Hampson for Warnock. Hope it happens. We can keep Jacobs if we lose Hampson.

bahahahhahahaha that is the biggest joke ive ever heard!
there is no way in hell carlton would be doing that deal, you need to be sacked for even posting this on bigfooty!

I'm not so sure about that one J. Warnock was pretty unlucky not to get more senior game time at Melbourne, but with the rapid improvement of Frawley, and Rivers finally being injury free, his position in Melbourne's best 22 just got squeezed out. I'm not saying we should swap either ruckmen for him, but i'd be happy to get him to the club as long as we didn't have to pay "overs" for him.
We don't need to recruit a Chris Johnson for CHB by taking the dregs from Melbourne's VFL side.

Warnock will only be a sub for Thornton at Preston.

Can't understand why people are unable to get it into their skulls...

...We love Jacobs, we want him to stay, he loves Carlton and would love to stay but he wants more games in the 22 and he is arguably already good enough to hold a number 1 ruck posi at another club. Therefore he has already indicated his interest in being traded to Adelaide. He is not going to stay on our list as a number 3 or 4 ruckman.

This is the thing at the end of the day....People talking about keeping Jacobs are missing the point - he wants to play and he won't do that once Kreuze is fit. If he wants to go, I don't blame him. In Hampson, we've got someone who is a more than adequate back up, is a bit more versatile and, frankly, isn't in a position to be making demands of more playing time just yet.

The key is that we need to get some thing for jacobs that makes us a better side. DNW a poo poo platter of mids or second round picks.

Thanks. It will be interesting. I cant see any club offering up anything less than pick 45 and for anything above that, it really isnt worth it when you think of where we would be if Waite or Henderson went down. If he does end up going, we will have to find a back up forward from somewhere.
Maybe thats why the club has spoken to McKinley???

If setanta went I'd retain fisher on the list for another year (younger than setanta, would be able to average the 2 goals/game that setanta did earlier this year) - added bonus that it would get him his 100 games

I'm assuming setanta is contracted next year? (ie we'd have to trade him and he cant walk)

The likelihood though is that he'll spend 2011 in the 2s before being delisted. If a club is prepared to offer him a lifeline then it is worth it - for Setanta to play regular footy this coming season.

As for forward options, Austin would be a chance at CHF (if he could get his body right). There's Casboult. Plus the Hampson/Kreuzer key forward experiment that has yet to blossom.

Thought I was reading SpudChamber for a sec. :o

We didn't gift Fisher 100 games in 2009 when we had the chance because he wasn't up to it. We gifted Fisher his 99th game in 2010, and dropped him because he wasn't up to it.

Sentimentality has no place in the modern era.

Though there's the off chance that he has a boy with talent... Then we'd be kicking ourselves.

Sure but we'd have been kicking ourselves for 2 seasons. Knee injury aside, he still couldn't break into the 8th worst side in the comp post-Fev. Remember he was only kept on the list this year because of a contract. 100-game apologists need to ask why he wasn't selected for his 100th game in '09 - I believe he finished the year at the Bullants then too.

Yes! People think about the player only and forget the importance of depth. Unless we trade one in we need the back-up.

Drummond and Brown should be chased - HARD!

Mitch Brown is only 22 and as a KPD at 195cm and 93kg he is exactly what we need. Tarrant may be a more proven player but he is old and I would rather continue to develop our YOUNG list. Brown would work perfectly at CHB and release Bower onto a 3rd tall - suit Bower better as he was struggling on some bigger bodies and he can provide a bit more run of HB like he enjoys. Pressure off Jamison and allows Austin (who will be a star) more time to develop.

Josh Drummond may be a risk with his history of injury but his LARS surgery was a success so he may be worth the risk to enable Gibbs the chance to run through he midfield - where he should be. Drummond has fantastic finishing skills by foot and would relieve Russell from kick-ins, and lets face it...he does worry sometimes. Seeing as he wants out of Brisbane (+salary cap pressure), he would come at a reasonable price and would be therefore worth the risk. If he does end up breaking down, we would just slide Gibbs back there and only have parted with a late pick.

P.S - all people floating suggestions about sending Waite into the backline again are TOTAL IDIOTS! Waite and Henderson worked well in the forward line late this year with their athleticism causing worry for defenders. With our small boys (all 3 of them, trade would be a MASSIVE mistake) at full flight we are a potent force. Throw in a resting Kruezer/Hampson/Warnock and we are VERY potent. Add a leadup player (Ben McKinley) to keep Waite/Hendo closer to goal and our opponents have no chance stopping that.

BLUES FOR FLAG 2011!!
