An abrupt end to my trading bot career today, I just don't have the patience! Exited my GALA bot at breakeven this morning, just before going on a 20% pump. Decided to split my trading bot allocation across FTM, ATOM and CRO in spot positions and just hold, I find that far less stressful!

Any update on your P/L for the bots?
Ended up about break even overall on the 5 bots I used. GALA pumped hard after I ended my last one unfortunately. As you said earlier, just need to find a coin that is starting to get some hype and will trend, keep the range fairly narrow and number of orders below 50.

Decided to open up a Spot Grid bot on Kucoin for the first time in a while Evolved1. Went with LUNA as the volatility is obviously super high and keeps pumping and dumping 10% in minutes haha

How is it going?

I'm doing slightly better on my luna play. At a guess, I'd say 79.9% down.
I honestly thought late shorts were going to get punished below 20, little did I know they would be in significant profit within the same day

Shorting it to zero could be a winning play.

I’ve had decent results using grid bots too, mostly during low-volatility phases. They can really rack up profits when the price bounces within a tight range. But yeah, during pumps or big dumps, they tend to underperform just holding, especially since only a portion of funds are actively trading at a time. I've also had to shut down a few bots when the volume dried up, no point having capital stuck in low activity pairs. For tokens where volume is thin or just getting started, I’ve started playing with a solana volume trading bot that helps simulate organic volume. Helps get better liquidity for grid bots to operate properly, especially in market-making setups on Raydium.

Grid bots can work well in the right market conditions, especially during high volatility when price keeps moving within a range. The key is exactly what you mentioned: setting a realistic range and not over-optimizing based on short-term performance, because those APR numbers can look great until price breaks out of the grid. From my experience, bots are best treated as tools to execute a strategy consistently, not as a “set and forget” money machine. It also helps to combine bots with market analysis-using platforms like Banana Pro to track on-chain activity and overall sentiment can give better context on when grid strategies make sense and when it’s safer to step aside.
