Whats the progress with this kid? He must be 20+ now if I'm not mistaken. Is he likely to get selected any time soon?

I am worried for him.

Reminds me of Andreas Everitt.

Bit part player however his body breaks down. Needs another 3 years lifting weights and putting on some size as he is very skinny and wont play AFL built like he is.

Probably a question for Dixie Flatline...
Can you tell me based on no more list changes - How many draft picks we have, what number they are and how many rookie picks we have?

For this purpose it would be more accurate not to include Osborne as right now he is officially off our list.

One other thing congratulations to Langford for his promotion to the primary list. An aggressive half back if there ever was one.

Sam Lonergan was delisted by Essendon. He is a pretty solid midfielder who seems to work very hard and get the job done without been flashy. Would help our depth. I wouldn't mind if the club recruited him.

Matt Campbell would be a more dangerous forward than Puopolo I reckon. Happy if we get him too.

I am in favour of recruiting any delisted player the club thinks could play a role next year. It adds selection pressure which helps the team. A draftee won't put pressure on for selection next year most likely.

Pick 29 should definitely be a youngster but 68 and 72 could be recycled players and I wouldn't mind. I trust the club to pick up the right recycled players if they are out there.

I really rate Lonergan but Campbell wouldn't get a game in our forward line even if the starting 6 were hit by a truck.

Have I missed something? I have seen nothing suggesting he has been elevated from the rookie list.

Campbell knows where the goals are. In a top side like us I think he could be really dangerous. I reckon he could kick 40 in a season in our forward line just from crumbs.

Given our draft picks and the depth players we've lost. We should give these players a close look. We're going to need players who can come straight in and be serviceable. A group of 25-30 players being rotated into the mix throughout the season is ideal. Draft a promising kid with 29, but unless we have something hidden, we are going to get more out of a Gram or a Campbell then pick 68 & 72 next year. The future can wait.

Breust's a fair bit better than him, though. Then there's that other bloke.

No argument about that. But that's kind of the point, if Breust gets attention from the opposition Campbell gets under the guard. The more dangerous forwards we have the harder we are to stop.

Next guy we need to draft is a big bodied quick midfielder with good endurance and there's a few in this draft from what i've seen as smokies, available ready to play for 2013. Another option that i've been thinking of now that our back line is covered with Lake and Spanger and co, lets try Gibson in the midfield for short stints when needed!!

Also like to see Roughead not ruck again, switching rolls with Shoemakers at CHB if his not getting a kick in the forward line!!
And for someone to replace MaCauley that could help play the hale/Rough role in the ruck for me this is our man IMO:

Justin Hardy - Central Districts - 196cm - 97kg - KPF/KPD/Ruck
Hardy is an interesting story as he has played most of his career as a KPD and has now turned into a KPF winning the SANFL leading goal kicker. Can also provide some relief in the ruck.
Strong marking presence and can take a grab. Had a real breakout season and was the dominant state league key forward from this year.

I really like his versatility, big body which we've been lacking, and plays aggressively.

I'd say he is a big candidate to be picked up by all those clubs who missed out on Dawes. E.g. the bulldogs.

He would compete with Puopolo for a spot. I don't think he would be in our best 22 but he would be ready to step up after one or two injuries hit.
Puopolo is a much better player IMHO.

Campbell is pretty one-dimensional. More creative around goals than Puopolo, but that's about it. His (only) good year was 4 years ago now.

WOW. Didn't see this coming. Would be amazed if someone doesn't grab Tom in the ND. Given the rubbish Melbourne has taken of late, Schneider would be in their best 21 surely !!
Dees will probably pick him up and Tom Couch him. Be better off staying with Box Hill.

Why is Duryea lucky? He's been excellent for Box Hill.
How would you rate Duryea against Cheney?

Duryea showed improvement this year but after three years on the list and zero games that makes him lucky. Playing HBF at BHH is a bit like batting number 5 for Victoria. If you were in Test contention you'd bat higher. For Duryea to succeed at AFL he needs to be showing far more than what he has thus far.

He's been good enough for a player who's only been on the list for 3 years, and a possible replacement for one of our older half-backs.

Certainly not in the same bracket as Grimley who really hasn't shone at any level.

Mitchell Banner 179 cm / 80 kg Midfielder / Forward
Tough inside mid who kicks goals.
Simon Buckley 190cm / 93 kg Defender / Midfielder
Good kick who provides run and carry off half back or even play midfield.
Matthew Bate 192cm / 91kg Forward / Midfielder
Massive kick good marking and good endurance.
Sam Lonergan 182 cm / 81 kg Forward / Midfielder
Tough inside mid who tackles well and can go up forward .
