The Hawthorn club have been working very hard in order to make room in the salary cap, and Lance "Buddy" Franklin, has had a 5 year signed sealed and delivered deal by the club on the table ready to be signed if he wants!
Lance wants and to sign as he loves the Hawthorn football club and his team mates, and will sign a 3 year deal, at much less than 1.5m a year within the next couple of weeks!
Lance "Buddy" Franklin will be playing for the Hawthorn football club, until 2016...!!

There is no need for this thread to continue..Will BUDDY leave the Hawks after the 2013 season??
Stop undermining the trust in Franklin's love for the Hawthorn club his Team-mate's and his fans.... LOYALTY....!!!!!

All is.....JMHO!!!!!!!

Time will Tell!

Kind of a random question, but has either of Litherland, Kelly or Boseley grown at all? They're listed at 190cm, 192cm and 192cm. Seems like we have a fair bit of this Medium/Tall defender type. I see one getting cut next year to make way for Heatherley.

How would you rank the three?

Look at most other gun Fullbacks in the comp atm and the majority are around 192-194cm. I'd be more worried about how much weight in muscle they have put on

well i know boseley is at least 194cms, with a long reach. But dont think of Litherland or Kelly as fullbacks, think of them more in the mold of rebounding flankers such as sam fisher, andrew mackie or Grant Birchall. Out of those 3 id say Kelly looks the most promising as he can read the play well but needs to be a lot more fitter, Litherland is fast and a good kick but sometimes i question his hardness at the ball, and boseley was always going to be a project player so probably to early to make a call on him now.

I haven't seen much of Bosely tbh, how does he play?
I personally think kelly could become a fullback. There is just something about this kid that i can't put my finger on but i think he can be a great player

his a rangy athletic sort of player in the mould of Dustin Fletcher, except his kicking sometimes lets him down which is why he wasn't taken until the rookie draft, and Kelly can defend well 1 on 1, the only reason i dont think he will be able to play full back is he is about 191cms and when you look at future key forwards he will come up against such as Patton at 197cms and dixon at 200cms, he'll be giving away a fair bit of height, but they say if your good enough your big enough...

Does anyone know how the NSW Scholarship boys are tracking? Couldn't find much on here about them. Mitchell Bates, Jack Codd-Miller and Jackson Dwyer.

Also, Rhys Panui-Leth is eligible to be selected on our International Rookie List this off-season. We get three spots on that I think. Kilkenny has one already.

There were a few people who were a little amazed he slipped as far as he did last year. Some rated him quite highly. Time will tell.

We were 3/3 last year in the draft. Hill played a few games, Woodward was going to play a few too and I've seen a lot of praise for Kelly on here.

I don't think they wil penalise Melbourne that much ,the AFL know it could likely be the end of them if they do.....l.

What is the point of fining Go Dees. They are a basket case anyway. Any fine collected will only go back to Go Dees as bail out money. Same with draft penalties. AFL hold them back now and Go Dees will be playing for PPs for the next decade.

For mine the whole tanking thing is a storm in a teacup.

I agree with this.

Caroline Wilson has really gone to superlative town to bring Melbourne to its knees. The changing rules around priority picks shows the afl were aware of the misuse. We see teams like Collingwood and West Coast dip down to the bottom of the ladder for one season, then bounce straight back up - yet the team that is in tatters on and off the field is the one copping both barrels?

Sheesh.

Punishing people that cheat unsuccessfully just seems a bit strange to me.

...How would you rank the three?

Bose has not done much during BHH games. Watched him at a few pre season sessions. The boy can run. He seemed to be a good competitor but is painfully thin. Of the three he has the most upside. His height looked OK he was comparable to Rough and Bud.

Litherland is a flanker. Can show remarkable speed, then go for long periods without showing remarkable speed. His attack at the footy can be questionable. Hope it is just confidence/inexperience.

Kelly, early days but very mid sized for mine. With no Murph, JBo and Gilly he should get a chance at FB. Good opportunity for him.

I hear what your saying and agree but would we be saying the same thing if they were going alright though. You can't punish one club and let another get away with it - just leaving themselves wide open to litigation down the track should some club finally decide to test the afl out in the courts.

Personally I thinks it's the likes of Connolly and schwab who are the problem and the football department in general and at the very least these guys have to go regardless of the outcome

Is there a case for an out of the square punishment.
Something like, anyone they picked up in that off season (trengove is the only one that springs to mind)
Has 3x their salary counting for the salary cap for 3years.
If they can't get their books under control THEN hit them with fines and draft penalties.

Would make them genuinely work for their punishment
Plus it's a genuine and attainable one.

Does anyone know if we will be selecting a back up Ruckman with our last rookie pick like we have for the last few years? Or will we be hoping Lowdan will improve and be available for selection if we need to call upon him?

Firstly it was Skipper, Then Johnson and finally last year Broc Mccauley and Adam Pattinson.

I guess the first option for this year would be Cameron Wood

Any thoughts?

I think we will, but not Cameron Wood. Our Ruck depth looks a bit thin next year. After Hale and Bailey, it's Lowden and Grimley. Not sure if Lowden is ready but Grimley is definitely not. I think we'll get Seaby or Stephenson in this deliste free agency period or pick up a ruckman from the vfl/sanfl/wafl in the rookie draft.

You forgot Roughead.

5 ruckman is more than enough unless Rough is going to play key fwd or back all year.

I suspect Roughead might play less time in the ruck this year as the new rules they're bringing in don't suite him. Also, I don't see Roughead to be able to play a whole game as the number 1 ruck.

I really like this idea, but can't see it happening.

Punishments should be well in excess of the potential reward for cheating. In the case of tanking the reward is a priority pick. And or a higher draft pick. It seems to me that the perfect punishment of teams found guilty is the removal of first round draft picks for a season or few.

In the case of salary cap breaches (like Carlton and Adelaide) I don't think the punishment should be around draft pi is I think it should be around salary caps. Reducing it by 1 or 2 million for a couple of years would really takeaway the advantage they were cheating to get. It would also have every club ravaging their olaying list. Which would add to the punishment.

I think Melbourne's puniusment should be:

- take away pick 4 this year, that will hurt.
- next year, they get last pick in each round of the draft, regardless of finishing position. They still get to participate, but there is absolutely no incentive to tank again.

The second part of the penalty could / should be part of the penalty applied to any and every team found guilty in the future.

Is Seaby available?
Would take him easily over Wood or Stephenson
He's actually not a bad ruckman
