Given Bateman, Bruce, Boumann, Murphy and Young have vacated the premises why is their speculation of further delistings, we only have to use 3 National Draft picks and have pretty much used one (41) to secure Lake.
The way I see it is the following:
Pick 28 takes Batemans list position.
Pick 41 already used to secure Lake.
Pick 60 odd takes Bruce's list position.
Pick 60 odd compensation for Young takes Boumanns position on the list.
Pick 80 takes Murphys list position, possible rookie elevation. (Schneider)
Pick 100 odd takes Youngs position, possible rookie elevation (Wanganeen)

There is no need for further delistings.

How do you guys see a proposal of Matt Campbell and pick 39 in return for pick 28?

How do we see it?

Boy oh boy ....

Some bizarre responses.

You don't think he's an improvement on Puopolo?

Hawthorn were all over him during last years trade period.

No, they aren't.

No, we don't.

No, we weren't

Technically that would be correct but I can't see it panning out that way.

Gilham will almost certainly go. The club is making no efforts to keep him and he doesn't seem to want to be depth player at this stage of his career judging by the way he is happy to field offers from everywhere. We would be fortunate if he chose to stay. If he does go then I just hope we get something for him as his first destination choices would be achieved by just nominating for the pre-season draft leaving us with nothing but a pick in the 100's.

Because the rookie list is going to go back from 6 to 4 places, now that the expansion era drafts are winding up, they will also have to make some tough calls there. As with everyone, I would see Schneider as a certainty for promotion but with the rookie list size reduction this may also result in Grimley being delisted to make room for McCauley. Wanganeen is the interesting one as to whether they rate him enough to add to the senior list - he was upgraded during the year but lacked consistency at BH although he is capable of doing the amazing. He played mainly as a half forward and we have plenty of options there already which may count against him.

Amos Frank will surely stay as they have invested too much, I would like to see Boseley get another year but I can't see Langford or Pattison surviving.

On top of that they may still choose to delist one more to bring a mature age player on as depth insurance for an area of weakness, most likely an on-baller/inside midfielder from VFL, WAFL or SANFL or possibly a delisted player. That option would only really be taken to keep a spot open for the pre-season draft.

I think we may end up with picks 28, 65, 66, 84 , 102 (Schneider), 120 (McCauley) and one pick in the pre-season draft. Retain Boseley and Frank and have 2 rookie selections.

The Herald Sun has linked us with Dean Towers of North Ballarat, the 22 year old who beat Trent Croad's vertical leap record and plays a similar role to Young. Don't think he will survive to pick 65 and not sure he is worth 28.

Totally agree with TallyHawk.
Our last 2 picks should be used to upgrade Schneider and Wanganeen

Does anyone know what we will do in the last week of trade week?
Have we cleared space on our list for upcoming contracts, with Buddy being the most obvious, therefore not doing any trades?

Campbell was in no way superior to Puopolo this year. And Puopolo is no star.

Campbell would be a back up for Osborne

At first, I thought it was from the 'THIRTEEN!' match and I got excited.

Apparently not. :(

Yes, and the year before that, they were all over Nathan Carroll.

You(and the media who read bigfooty) were being trolled.

So we have picks 28, 65, 66 and 84 and four vacancies, plus we gotta dump two rookies. Is that about the sum of things? I dont reckon any of our rookies are demanding an upgrade. All can stay on for one more year. Broc and Patto are not AFL class so they can be moved on. Hale, Bail, Sticks and Stones is ample ruck stock. I assume Langers can hang around as a NSW scholarship.

Chang, Bruce, JBo, Young, Murph and probably Gilly, Broc and Patto. Hell of a spring cleaning.

Our list is still good so we have no option with our high picks so it is time to go for speculative kids.

Hopefully we can upgrade Schneider onto the senior list. The other rookie listed players in Frank, Boseley, Wanganeen, McCauley will all most likely be retained for next year except for Adam Pattison who will most likely be delisted.

OUT:

Boumann
Bruce
Bateman
Young
Murphy
Gilham?

IN:
Pick 28
Pick 65
Pick 66
Pick 84
Pick 102

I am happy with a third rounder for Clinton Young. No speculative project players please, just solid midfielders or defenders.

The rookie list drops from 6 to 4 next season, and as such I would highly doubt we'd keep all 4 spots for those that are currently listed.

Good news about the delisting and retirements is it paves the way for some of the recent recruits.

Brad Hill for Young (only concern is lack of defensive pressure, plus Hill isn't as long a kick.
Schneider for Bateman (I think this could be an upgrade already)
Hallahan for Bruce (Same as Schneider)
Jordan Kelly for Murphy (that's practically a straight swap at this point)

What the f***!?

Clubs are strongly protesting the cut to the rookies list ...

I'm not against it ... as long as it's the same for every club ... which it won't be .. the AFL will probably give concessions , as they do , to GWS, Brisbane, Sydney, Gold Coast ... These clubs will probably stay at six ... and get an additional four local rookies to choose from.

;)
