Football nation really needs a warning on their website and all emanating communication.

Just wondering everyone's thoughts on Gilham and 28 to GC for Toy and 37. I dont think we can roll out the Gilham's a premiership defender anymore. Toy is an interesting one, hugely talented but has shown very little so far in his short career.

It's a strange one. You're right that Gilham as a premiership player wears thin now, but Toy is an unproven player, despite his reputation as being talented.

Got to feel sorry for Toy, obviously a quality player that will never reach his full potential due to his first degree heart block. Will be interesting to see where he ends up..

HAWTHORN'S prized trade Brian Lake is already hard at work in the gym at Waverley Park.
Club football manager Mark Evans said the former Western Bulldogs full-back wanted to make an impression when pre-season training resumed next month.

"He's keen to make a really positive start and he's chipping away slowly at a strength program," Evans said.

"His season finished earlier than ours, so he's ready and back doing mostly weight training.

"We've got a few players doing a few things, but he's obviously four weeks further rested than most of our guys.

Its good to see that Clarkson and co, are not waisting any time with Lake!!!!

Was just thinking today about this whole saga, with the new FA rules etc, and despite the fact of been shafted by the AFL in loosing both Young and Murphy for next to nothing I still believe that we have nabbed the best trade deal in this years trade period, YES even better then the Goddard and even Tippet if the trade actually takes place!!!!

Alastair Clarkson is a genius because in reality we have nabbed surprisingly in an early trade, the best dual All-Australian defender of the last decade!!!

Yes better then Scarlett ever was, in my IMO. Lakes foot skills are awesome to watch and he's honestly the one defender that are very hard to find this days, who's not the traditional spoiling fullback. I know you all know this but he backs himself to take those huge contested marks, where many defenders would opt to spoil which we desperately needed, and could have done with in a couple of crucial games this year. The #1 forward knows he's got a tough game ahead when they see Lake walking in their direction.

If we can manege him properly, witch i'm sure we will and get 2 years or maybe even three out of Lake we will be a very strong Team for the next few years!!!!

The AFL Know this, and that's why they are trying the hardest to make it as hard for us as they possibly can!!!

But i'm happy of the fact that we are not giving up in our push for a please explain from the AFL:

Hawthorn is leading the fight for AFL clubs to get more information on the formula used to decide free agency compensation.

The Hawks are still studying whether they can challenge receiving draft pick No.66 in return for running defender Clinton Young's move to Collingwood.

"We'll go back through our documentation to see whether there's (grounds) for an appeal or not," Evans said.

Lets Go HAWKS!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!NEVER GIVE UP AND NEVER SURRENDER!!!!!!

I'm happy to take a punt on Josh Toy, despite the heart condition.

Not sold on Rodan. Would basically take Changa's spot on the list but I don't think he'd be best 22-25.

Is he doing any goal kicking practice? :p

Edit: Like to be the first one to get to say... Hale has been so hard down at Waverley, I think I can see a Lake.

Would be a better forward pocket than Puopolo. Just has more tricks, and more experience, and can pinch hit in the middle.

To be frank, in Litherland there was an area near a whitecross on a hill that reminded me of that lake produced from the hale that you're talking about, but I didn't get near it because lowden there was a savage guy with a roughead and a smith and wesson gunston driving an old boseley model langford drinking a kilkenny.

;)

He can't run out games any more.
Plays in fits & starts. Gun quarter here & there, where he's back to his old form, then rubbish the next quarter/week.
If you want a guy purely as a super-sub, then he'd make some sense, but... dunno. Going to leave you short elsewhere.

Facebook has mentioned the following:

J Gysberts from melbourne for Haw pick 28? Essendon are front runners I think for his services. Where would he fit in our best 22 (especially if we are willing to part with pick 28 for him?)

St Kilda have tabled pick 47 for Stephen Gilham - I thought his preferred club was Gold Coast, but can't see GC parting with pick 37 for him. I would be happy with 47 from the saints, as he could walk out at season's end for squat.

Rodan would just clog up opportunities for similar players from Box Hill

Gilham is still a capable defender if needed (andh hes happy with that)

Can we play Puopolo in H&A then get Campbell Brown back for finals ?

Yes Campbell Brown

My Melbourne supporting mates reckon Gysberts is a very lazy footballer, not a big fan of hard work.
I would prefer to trump North's offer of pick 33 and use our 28 on Ben Jacobs.
