Seeing we don't have the coin or the spots on the list it will never happen, but Matthew Bate should be a good pick up for someone. Seems talented just playing in a shite team seemed to just keep him down.
I will projectile vomit all over the joint if we picked up Bate.

Huge spud!!

Wouldn't mind drafting Dean Towers. Knightmare's mock draft has him going at pick 33 I think. Outside midfielder with pace and an excellent leap.

Yep, alongside Fev up in Yarrawonga I reckon
FFS! I thought trade period sillyness was over for another year

I really am not convinced at all with Grimley and whilst he is contracted I would delist and rookie at best.

I am also not sure on Litherland but that may be a bit unfair as he was injured in 2011. Anyone got an more educated view on him from 2012?

Yes, in the games I saw him play this year he twice ducked his head and didn't go hard enough when required. On this alone I would delist him, not to mention he is of surplus size to us as we have Kelly and Stratts of similar size playing in his position. He was a late pick anyway so the gamble didn't work. Gone.

I dunno. Almost impossible to make a judgment of the Melbourne players. The place is such a rabble, the ingrained culture so feeble, the expectations so low, and has been for a while, that I reckon it's too hard to judge. Throw on top these guys are paid great money to be also-rans, and they know they're also-rans from the moment they walk into that place, I wouldn't be game condemning him to hell based on doing soft time at Melbourne.

Thanks Tomohawks. I think we need to be ruthless this year and if they're not up to it, then delist and find someone who his. There are a lot of 188cm - 192cm defenders running around the leagues these days.

I always liked Petterd, but just not sure where he would fit in, if we decided to pickhim up. Not an outside mid, not overly blessed with pace, just seems like a midsized forward.

Seems to have a bucket load of talent though.

Have you guys seen this???Its a must see
It gives you good insight to what Clarkson was thinking about Spranger
Brings a lot of grunt to our back line!
Only down side is that throwing himself into contests like that, he won't be injury free for to long!!

Staying alive, got to love it, its MUST WATCH!!

Needs to learn to take a punch to the chin though, bloody glass jaw...
;)

Im not sure if i was alone here, but i thought McCauley was really impressive in those first few games he played for us. I was very surprised to see him dropped (especially with Bailey being injured) and thought he was unlucky not to get back into the team.

I've been a wrap for McCauley this year as he can ruck, play forward and is agile enough to gather a ground ball. He wasn't as prominent when he came back from that dislocated elbow but I am a fan of his.

I would have him ahead of Bailey. Bailey needs to add forward presence to his game to really cement a spot in the ruck.

Where did you read that? Because everything I have read says that he should be able to play unaffected.

The unaffected bit relates to his health as he is not in any physical danger playing football.

Herald-Sun Oct 11 2012
The Gold Coast defender was born with a congenital heart block, a rare condition that severely limits his aerobic capacity, but which poses little danger to his health.
It emerged on Wednesday night the condition was keeping Toy's maximum heart rate well below 100, explaining why he has failed to run out matches and secure a place in the lowly Suns side.
The youngster cannot reach what most players regard as top gear, but the condition was masked in his junior days due to his power and football talents.
Fairfax papers Oct 11 2012
"The condition means he has both a low resting heart rate and a low maximum heart rate, which has a negative effect on his endurance and his ability to increase it. The only way to fix the problem is with a pacemaker, which would mean he could no longer play contact sport."

As a medium sized defender (185cm) he would be relied on more than a KP defender to produce run, and be able to do that for 120 minutes. The condition would limit him.

He is a huge footy talent though and would have presumably gone Top 3 in the 2010 draft had he not been pre-listed so I would think he is certainly worth a gamble on the rookie list or even our last live draft selection should he happen to reject GC's one year offer and nominate for the draft.

The reason I think getting Gillies would be a good maneuver is because we need someone to replace Brian Lake in a few years. Gillies could be it.

Gillies is not a KP defender. At 192cm he is more of a 3rd tall option at AFL level. He would hold down KP at lower levels though.

And we have zilch forwards in development, or on the primary list who are not already playing senior football.

Yet our backline at Box Hill is almost all Hawthorn listed players.

We need some forwards.

That was Staker not Spangher.

Exactly i have been calling out for this, we need to get a KPF with our pick 29 or if not we need to pick up Lucas Cook in the free agency period coming up.

Lucas Cook 196cm, could come along nicely training with Buddy, Roughead and Gunston and playing on Lake, Gibson and Schoenmakers. He supposedly showed a lot before getting drafted, a change in scenery and we are obviously a lot better at developing players, so could be a good pick up. I'm a little confused of how next week works. Are we able to sign any delisted player to our list?

If they were actually delisted, yes, they go to the team of their choice, if they're wanted

If they refused an offered contract, they go into the draft.

You would think his condition will not be suited to capped interchanges post 2013.

Worth a shot then??

PSD? ND? Rookie?

Speaking of delisted Melbourne players, I wouldnt mind us throwing a lifeline to Bate, like the way he plays, reckon he would be much more suited to the way we play

Hey Echols....big LIKE (sorry I don't have a like button).......been saying this for ages....'nobody believes me', the future of our small fwds such as wanga and frank depends on a KPF to crumb to instead of Broc a makeshift fwd

We definitely need forward depth. I dunno what the story is with Pettard buy we could use another one or two depth options. You only need to watch the Box Hill forward line in operation. It's generally made up of resting ruckman.

There is Spangher, I guess.
Petterd would be very handy to.
