I think Melbourne's puniusment should be:

- take away pick 4 this year, that will hurt.
- next year, they get last pick in each round of the draft, regardless of finishing position. They still get to participate, but there is absolutely no incentive to tank again.

The second part of the penalty could / should be part of the penalty applied to any and every team found guilty in the future.
If he hadn't already retired I would be demanding they return our 5th pre-season draft pick for Bruce and take him back, while compensating us for wasting our time.

He failed a fitness test last year and Port chose Renouf over him...since then he has played five games and now has been delisted. Seeing Jesse White was named number one ruckman for the NEAFL team of the year that would indicate he wasn't doing much in the twos either.

Surprising, he played quite well in a few games last year when Mumford was out.

Certainly DID NOT fail a test at Port Power. Funnily enough neither did Renouf who came with clear question marks over degenerative knee issues. Both passed tests. Port just chose the younger man.
I remember it being reported last year that Seaby had failed his fitness test at Port. Not that the media reporting it makes it gospel

I didn't see it with my own two eyes I just read it somewhere in the media/Bigfooty. Still doesn't explain how Jesse White was out playing him.

Seaby, really ?
Sometimes on this board it's like we throw any name out there and then type a lot of bullshit reasons why he's a required recruit, kind of ridiculous after a while

I think it is because a lot of people realise that we are in a premiership window and that mature recruits will help us more than draftees next year. I think the club realises that too. Seaby would give us ruck depth which is a little bit then as it is now. Whether it is Seaby or someone else a mature recruit would still be handy IMO.

On the positive side Glacier our recruiting staff don't seem to take much notice of these suggestions.

I don't have a problem with mature recruits but I am not really sold on Seaby. To be fair however I haven't seen much of him recently as he has been in the NEAFL.

We may well add another ruckman but I would hope Lowden and Bailey will get a bit of game time this year so anyone we got would know they will be Box Hill bound.

I like Seaby based on his 2011 form but I don't know enough about him to really have an opinion on it. Trust the club to make the right call. But just generally happy with mature aged recruits this off-season. I can see how people would get sick of every name that gets thrown up, people getting excited about, but I think everyone's focus been on 2013 is the underlying reason for it.

Surely there's better rucks playing in the WAFL/SANFL/VFL than Seaby?
This. I think I was the one that brought him up, but just as a suggestion. I also suggested that we'd look at the state leagues to. I suggested it because I do feel we need to bring another experienced mature ruck in. Looking at our list if Hale goes down(touch wood) we could be in trouble.
Bailey - injury prone, if Hale is unlucky enough to get injured, this bloke probably is already injured.
Roughead - the 2nd ruck, don't want him playing out games in the 1st ruck slot though.
Lowden - been named emergency a couple of times, looks to be ready.
Grimley - nowhere near it.

What Rucks are standouts in the state leagues?

Does anyone know if we have anyone training with us over the next few weeks? Some clubs get permission to try some players out.
