Not to mention there a few so called 'elite' midfielders with poor disposal ..Oliver, Petracca come to mind.

inside mids generally aren't reliant to be good kicks, as long as they play within their strengths and pretty sure when he was recruited, Fly openly said he doesn't care about disposal efficency, as its overrated. Think this was bought up when Nick has been poor in that regard when playing on the inside

I think Ned looks much better when he kicks long to the hot spot. It’s when he attempts the tougher shorter kicks that he can turn it over. He should go long more often and put the cute kicks away

Dangerfield is an erratic field kick also. Obviously has other super elite traits but field kicking isn't one of them.

Adam Treloar's kicking on the run would do my head in.

Not that Long is ever going to be in this bracket of player, but he just has to be an adequate kick to fulfil his role.

Didn’t stand out in the session I saw. Was hoping for a bit more. Not a great runner and a bit vanilla, but is obv a big lad and looked v comfortable out there. Early days so will see more in coming weeks….

I thought this is what he did well in the qualifying final. Wasn’t trying to be cute with his disposals but rather but the opposition defenders under immediate pressure from the centre.

The late season game against Brisbane is what I don’t want him doing i.e trying to pin point a hand ball into the corridor.

When trying to replace veteran players without top picks, finding Long for little cost is brilliant. Those wanting him gone will be disappointed. His game has enough high quality areas and his attitude is very good. I look forward to 100-200 games of pointless negative repetition. This is not only my view, the club is committed. For a MSD player contract length has accelerated in no time.
