i havent seen him today so i dont know how he went, i also like to get thoughts from other people.

I stole this from Bomber Blitz. Im sure some of u have read it but I figured there were some points worthy of discussion

Bachar trained today - he had both ankles taped but seemed to join in the drills seamlessly and looks to have a fairly robust physical appearance.

Also joining training in the hope of being rookied was Lee Adams so we will watch him with interest.

Koala pointed out that Bolton was at training 40 mins. early concentrating on short kicking and technical aspects of how to step when landing.

The training was conducted by the assistant coaches but Sheedy was present and in a buoyant mood over the Mal Michael signing. He says we are a certainty to get him.

I later noted on his 3aw interview that Dwayne Russell and Gerard Healy felt the same and that Essendon had done nothing wrong. They made light of Tony Shaw's comments without actually saying he is a ****************. Sheedy also indicated on this interview that he says Neagle as possibly filling a key role in defence and that he was drafted when very young and would have actually gone at about 13 if he was in this year's draft.

Back to training:

Training was only moderately hard tonight concentrating on the correct executiion of skills under pressure and in crowded situations. Courtney Johns kicked the yellow ball with his preferred foot rather than his non preferred foot in one of these drills and the entire squad had to do pushups which is not a bad way to get everyone to focus. To his credit Johns did some excellent kicking for goal tonight and this aspect of his game has improved markedy over the last 12 months.

Again Johns and Lloyd were paired against Kepler and players running the ball down field had to choose the right option as they lead in opposite directions leaving one man uncovered. It was interesting to note that Lloyd later complained that no-one kicked the ball to him because the defence was "Lloyd conscious". Any team which tries to play two players on him leaving Johns or Laycock without coverage will have a problem. They appear to be putting a lot of effort into intergrating their big men on the forward line.

Another close in drill within a defined rectangular area was underarm keepings off with a tennis ball - this injected a bit of variety into training and then things became more serious when the tennis ball was replaced by a football. Again an emphasis on close in skills under pressure - hanballing correctly, talking and making correct decisions.

Most of the modified traing group seem to be coming on well - Andrew Lovett and Welsh both showing signs of improvement.

Training seemed harmonious and upbeat - I sense a good confident atmosphere but of course this is just my subjective feeling.

- All signs are looking good. Lloyd and Johns are learning to work together, Keps is more mobile and Bolton is learning to be less unco.

Both great signs, was wondering how Neagle was going to go being a prolific goalkicker, might have to play a Bradshaw like role and be only be used up forward when other options out.

The way we have drafted and with Michael bolton will have to do more than that to get in the team this year which is a good thing.

Like the sound of that

Like the sound of that too, although I find it hard to believe. Would like to hear others thought on that one

Dont like the sound of that

Training seems to be goin well. Doubt Neagle top 15 but we'll see, bonus if he did turn out to be a good player

Does anyone think neagle will get a game in 07, if so how many?

He probably will, he wasn't playing to badly at times last year and is due for a new contract, they'd have to have some look at him unless they are confident enough to keep him on the list anyway

I rekon we should have a sticky training thread to keep tabs on whats going on at EFC. The Richmond board have some great posts on thier different training sessions, would love a day by day account of whats going on,if anyone can get down to watch the boys:thumbsu:

thats the trouble i think, knowone here can get to every session,
if any....unlike dozens of Tiger fans who seem to have a lot of spare time and no work commitments to check out Richmond's training;)

i was at the dfo in essendon today and pulled up in the car next to me was leroy jetta and paddy ryder. a beautifull day in melbourne and most where in shorts and t shirts loving the weather and paddy gets out of the car in a singlet and footy shorts and then jetta jumped out in a tracksuit shivering and blowing in his hands to warn up. looks like he might have to get used to the weather before winter i rekon.
