I go this from the Skynews website.

As a former US serviceman, I can almost guarantee you that he will be executed.

The US military takes a dim view of this sort of thing during peace time, but in wartime it is the death penalty just for insubordination. They will make a fast example of this guy.

US: ATTACK FROM WITHIN

An American soldier has died in a grenade attack carried out by another US serviceman at a military camp in Kuwait.

Sixteen troops were also injured when the soldier, thought to be a Muslim, lobbed three grenades into tents housing commanding officers from the 101st Airborne Division at Camp Pennsylvania.

Sky correspondent Stuart Ramsay, who is in the camp, said the first grenade was rolled into the first tent, where the commanding officer Colonel Ben Hodges was based, but not did not go off.

But two other grenades thrown into tents where the unit's majors and captains sleep did explode, injuring Col Hodges as he ran out of the first tent.

Ramsay watched as the suspect, an engineer from the 327th infantry assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, was held.

"It appears he was hiding in a bunker near where the attacks happened," Ramsay said.

"As the man who carried out the attack moved away there was some shooting. He was shot in the leg.

The grenades were rolled into three tents

He was held on the ground less than 100 yards from where the attack happened."

Ramsay said the soldier had been guarding a grenades depot at the time.

He said fears about the soldier's behaviour had been raised by colleagues.

"In recent days they were concerned about his behaviour and were not going to send him up to the front when the soldiers were going to be deployed."

It is not clear whether the soldier, who Ramsay said would have been in the Gulf for some weeks, had planned the attack before being deployed.

"To be honest we just do not know," Ramsay said.

"Talking to other soldiers, it could be that he was disgruntled. They said he had been acting 'weird' for days."

Eleven soldiers who were seriously hurt were flown out of the camp by helicopter.

It was initially thought two Kuwaiti nationals were involved but it quickly became clear it was just one American soldier.

Ramsay said a criminal investigation is now being carried out.

Iraqi soldiers launched a Scud missile attack during the incident, but it is not known whether they are linked. The Scud was shot down by Patriot missile.

Executed seems harsh in that i am not sure about the reaction back home. This soldier could have been psychologically unstable before deployment, or it could indicate the psychological stress soldiers go through. In hindsight, this 'acting wierd' should have been reported to the superiors.

He isn't going to be tortured. He will face a General Court-Martial under the US Uniform Code of Military Justice. Yes, he could be summarily executed.

More significantly, the last part of USAEagle's news report indicated Iraq had launched a Scud. I haven't heard this. Is there any confirmation that a bona-fide Scud has been launched?

Peace,

Did someone mention Scuds? I thought Saddam said he had gotten rid of such weapons, along with his other WMDs and chem and bio ones. Will you use them Saddam and prove you have been lying your arse off to the UN and the whole world the whole time? Because theoritically the US coalition shouldn't have to be worried about being attacked by such weapons since you say you have none of them.

I think more important is the question: What if Saddam doesn't use any weapons of mass destruction?

How will GWB justify his actions?

Hmmmmm.......we'll just have to wait for that propoganda machine to kick into action.

HAHAHAHAHAHA !

Saddam doesn't NEED weapons of mass destruction. In fact, Saddam doesn't need to do a damn thing.

The Coalition of the Killing seem to be doing a great job of wiping themselves out.

Does anyone know if the Iraqis have actually killed anyone yet?

It seems to me that most of the British and American deaths have been self-inflicted.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

Serves the bastards right. This is turning into a complete stuff-up. Military suicide by the "Liberators" ... and political suicide for Bush, Howard and Blair.

Serves the slimy murdering bastards right.

I don't reckon that dying in helicopter accidents serves anyone right.

It does, when you're in the process of invading someone else's country.

A country whose leader is one dictatorous bastard. These people are prepared to take the risk compared to people like you. Invading someone else's country, is that all?

Can someone translate this for me?

I don't speak Drone.

Love the way all the news reports are saying it is suspected he is an American Muslim, but not yet confirmed.

Give me a break people, so it is only Muslims who are capable of killing people.

Even if he really isn't a Muslim, I guarantee they won't say that.

I said the country is one whose leader is a dictatorous bastard. The people who have died are prepared to take the risk of doing what they are doing. This compared to people like you who sit at home and laugh when someone dies. What part of this can't your brain understand?

Are you like the new resident troll now or just intellectually crap? You are the fool who called me a drone for saying people who turn their backs on the country they grew up in by booing the Australian anthem should be smashed.

Umm no i am not laughing, never have and never will. Since when have i said anything about laughing anyway? I am one who is hoping the US coalition keeps civilian casualties to a minimum as any innocent Iraqi who dies won't be around to see a Saddamless Iraq. Therefore i am sad for anyone that dies. Once again, don't put words in my mouth.

currently north korea are on the verge of launching a nuclear weapon you dont see the yanks preassuring them about thier weapons of mass destruction, yes korea doesnt have any goods that the yanks need so no trouble thier.

There's only two people I have noticed that seem to be taking any delight in deaths in Iraq. Funnily enough both claim to be 'pro - peace'.

"Serves them right"?

I am against the war but abbhor the expressions of glee and mirth by some posters at people being killed, whether by friendly fire or enemy. How can any human being be happy that innocent people are dying.

Just sat and watched the morning update on Sky News and the look on the female US POW's face will haunt me for a long, long time.

such is the futility of war the coalition are more of a danger to themselves than the iraq soldiers will ever be, it just comes down to which propaganda machine you believe the most.

Not sure that is the case. I remember something happening a few weeks ago relating to North Korea and USA. I think it was just a case of the yanks putting North Korea on notice, but it did answer a few of my concerns similar to the ones you expressed above.
