I still find it amazing the various leagues have not got together and demanded that the AFL pay for p,ayers entering their league from the various other leagues around the country. Most p,ayers are drafted from the SANFL, WAFL, TAC Cup and the VFL witH a few from Tassie and the NEAFL.

When a p,Ayer is drafted there should be a tiered payment system based on where the player is drafted. So payments would start at say $100k and scale down from there to the last drafted player. The club would get say 60-70 % of the transfer payment with the rest going into that league. There is value is looking even further, so for example if a player is drafted from Sturt in the SANFL, then Sturt get a percentage, so does the SANFL as does the hills team he started with and the hills league for example.

This is not an AFL bashing post but more focused on ensuring all levels of the sport continue to prosper.

This seems logical but I hear very little on payments surrounding the high draftees.

If you had $100k floating round, there'd be all sorts of recruitment drives for gun 16-17 year olds.
Unless you mandated that all clubs involved in a kid's development were rewarded, I think you'd find a lot of the bigger clubs would rip the guts out of the smaller junior clubs, and turn into juggernauts.
